what frame bag is that?
it's a really inexpensive ibera bag. It does the job. :-)
as i was scrolling down, before i got to the bike, i thought you were suggesting she had to make do with some old farm equipment.

Hi. I'm a Newbie to the forum. Thanks to all for sharing your bikes, whether they were purchased or built. I really enjoyed seeing other folks' bikes. I am wondering why there was so many haters on the concept of the flat bar road bike. I'm here doing a bit of research for my own project and was surprised at the comments.
I have a '07 Trek Madone 6.9 SSL which I purchased used in 2010. For a few years, I was doing 20 - 25 miles per day on the bike and thoroughly enjoyed the experience of riding carbon. After a few moves for work, and other life changes, I'm just getting back into riding again. I am finding the riding position of the Madone to be somewhat uncomfortable. I had been considering a move to a Trek 7.7 FX while at the same time considering converting my current bike to a flat bar road bike. For the conversion, I would use a 40 degree stem to raise the new handlebar position a bit, combined with a carbon 5 degree sweep riser bar.
If I sell / trade my Madone, the cost of buying versus converting are virtually the same. I would love to hear some of your experiences and opinions on converting the current bike to a flat bar road bike versus buying new. I am also considering stepping up to a Trek 7.9 FX. Would love to hear your opinions on this choice as well.

Thanks for the reply Colonel. My objective is to get into a more upright position. I find that to be more comfortable for me these days. If I understand the mustache bar as you mentioned, I like the look of the flat bar versus the traditional swept back look of the mustache bar. Although I am seeking a more upright, comfortable position, I still like to get on it and sprint for a mile or so. (sprint for me is 22-25 mph sustained. I realize that's slow for many of you.)

Surly cross check. Becoming my favorite bike ever. A really good substitute for my Paramount P 15

My flat bar road bike, Quick 3. Have to sort out a seat as I have already burned through three and keep coming back to the stock piece. It's not uncomfortable but I keep thinking there might be something better? Have a Quick 7 that is more of a dirt/gravel bike for me but this is my go fast, for me, bike with all the handling and comfort I could have hoped for at 70 years of age. My back and neck will just not let me ride a drop bar comfortably.
Frank.

That is a really gorgeous bike in an understated way.
Ever since you started posting about your Quick 3, I have been having another look at Cannondale's offerings.

My wife's triple butted chromoly mixte. This bike is the smoothest bike I have ever thrown my leg over. Converted the road gearing with my decomissioned XTR chainrings (34/46) and my old 735 XT derailleurs for a smooth shifting setup. Suntour XC Pro brake levers and XT thumbies to complete the conversion.

This is a converted time trial bike. Tange 2 is pretty smooth on my other bikes but this bike is rough on my old neck. I put a crabon flat bar to reduce the sting. Kept the down tube shifters
