Hello to all

Hi
I am new to the forum but have been cycling for about 50 years. It was American kids cruisers in the 60's, then Stingrays with banana seats, then my first 10 speed in the early 70's, a European road bike, after college I got my first serious road bike a Trek 500 (serious to me). I rode that in many centuries in the 80's then discovered mountain biking. The majority of my cycling for the last 25 years has been mountain biking. Fortunately living in the Bay Area there are many places to ride and you can ride quite a ways. 30 miles and 3000' of climbing is a good day. When I turned 40 I bought Trek 5200 and a Cannondale SV-1000. I got a dedicated commute bike in 2007, a Cannondale Bad Boy. Between commuting, mountain bike rides and occasional road rides I was riding about 70 miles a week. I read somewhere that mountain bike races trained on dirt bikes in the off season. When I turned 50 I got into motorcycling and ride long adventure rides. Bicycling is the only thing that keeps me in shape and sane. I've signed up to do the Death Ride in 2016 so I've started riding my road bike a whole lot more. In the last month I've ridden 16 days in the last month for a total of 275 miles. Getting ready for some long rides. I've been soaking up lots of info on training and have signed up for this forum. I'll be discovering the forum for a while and hope to contribute when I can.

I've dropped back in.
I trained almost 3,000 miles with over 275,000 feet of climbing then,,,
completed the 2016 Markleeville Tour of the Alps other wise know as the Death Ride.
Did all 5 passes in my first attempt, 130 miles and over 15,000 feet of climbing in a day.
2017 was more of a Mt Bike year
2018 was working on the house
Enough of that.
I signed up for the 2019 Death Ride.
Getting back into training.
Trying to improve my bike fit.

Hey I’ve started training for my second Markleeville Death Ride.
I did all 5 passes, 130 miles and 15,000 feet of climbing in 2016.
Now that I’m 60 I thought I’d do the Death Ride again.
I have thousands of miles to train and 100,000’s of feet of climbing to get into shape.

I thought I’d put my cycling passion to good use and signed up for the Climate Ride.
It’s a fundraiser and I am supporting two local non-profits; Acterra and Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition (SVBC)

They have been bringing people together to increases awareness and
find solutions to get people out into nature and to make bicycling a part of the community.

Acterra has park stewardship programs, educations programs and increases people’s awareness to live a life that is more sustainable and has less impact on our environment. SVBC gets people together to find solutions for safer bicycle routes for kids to ride to schools and for adults to use bikes to go shopping, ride to stadium events and to commute to work. They run the local Bike to Work Day.

The ride is 5 days from Santa Cruz to Edna Valley along the norther California coast. Its 280 miles and over 17,000 feet of climbing.

It would be really cool if you could support my fundraising for Acterra and SVBC.
I can't create a thread about it until I have made 10 posts.
