Get some cotton Walz caps. One of the products they originally made were hats for welders.
Just make sure the hat you get is 100% cotton, including the thread, if you're using it for welding or brazing. Not all of them are...

that is so cool. When frames were frames. But interesting your bike listing says several but mostly non name brands. Thought the old steel framed Treks were supposed to be pretty good for factory made?

This was may favorite commuting hat for years until I lost it on the job in 2011.
Since then I usually wear these or others like them while riding about town. In winter they are likely to be worn underneath the hood of my jacket or hoody.

I've been wearing a painters hat under my helmet for years. The ones in these posts though are collectors items. Nice!
