Home Made Tool (improvement)

I got bored today (can’t imagine why) and decided to upgrade a trusted tool.

I’m super happy - it came out perfect on my first attempt.

Pushing the spoke lets the plunger fall to the locknut. It makes it a one-handed tool.

Long ago I went to my local hardware store with the Var dishing tool's plunger in hand and rummaged through their spring collection. I found on that fit the plunger just right. I set the dishing tool on the wheel with the thumb screw a tad loose. The plunger slides WRT the axle/rim and I tighten the thumb screw with a free finger.

Nice work bending this plunger holder well, and on the first time. Doing this kind of simple fabrication is harder then it looks! Andy

Ingenious use of a spoke. I make a lot of tools from coat hanger wire and stainless safety lockwire, especially the heavier 0.041" ans 0.051" diameters.
