He said that spending the extra $2k to get SRAM Red, Discs and the R5 frame wasn’t worth it because I wouldn’t really appreciate the benefits as a guy who rides 17mph on the flats in south Florida. My vanity said yes, of course I “need” the R5, but my common sense agreed with my buddy.

Going to an R5 would just mean more Fredtastic spacers for me. Can't do that - cycling vanity, and all that.

My intention was Endurance/Discs and hopefully Di2 but stay under $4k. When I started shopping Trek, Giant, etc it wasn’t going to happen. I was pretty much sold on the Domane SL5, thinking that the current 105 is probably as “nice” as the last gen Ultegra on my Tarmac. A wheel upgrade and I’d be good to go within my budget. Living in south Florida and not riding in inclement weather made my decision to eliminate the need for discs pretty easy and when I saw the deals Excel had going, hard to pass up.

Now that is pretty! Reminds me of the orange 911 GT3.

The wheels match everything but the frame, and even the text there. (Some carbon wheels are gray.) Hot!

When you changed out the bars and stem, did you go back to your original length stem and width of bars that you mentioned in your first post or did you get use to the new "fit".

Mine is finally shipping tomorrow, I bought it last Monday but the Stages PM I ordered with it was on backorder. It still is, but I had them ship it regardless and will install later.
was thinking of aero bars and stem, but after all of my other cycling related purchases my wife would kill me.

stuck with the length and width that came on this bike. Just feels better. I spent a lot of time on the tops of my last bike. 1cm shorter stem and I’m on the hoods.

just bought one!!- disc version
Was struggling over frame for new build- came down to Factor 02 V2 (list price recently lowered to $2700!!). Then I saw a 2019 R3 disc with orange and navy blue like yous on sale at Excel Sports for large discount. I don't know why it was discounted that much. I should have it in several days. Don't have all the other parts yet. But I decided to bite the bullet and get something usually beyond my price range. AMain Cycles had SRAM Red eTap AXS 1X HYD kit for $1516. So I got that and a 10 - 28 Red cassette. I'm really liking the idea of one chain ring- simple.
Saving up for Roval CL50 wheels- so far seems Conti 5000TL is the best tire choice.
Slowgo: what is the Cervelo handlebar and stem like? I cant see detail in the pictures. Expensive? One-piece?
I also am struggling with handlebar width. Always had 44cm. And I believe the online cycle fit calculators speked 44cm for me.
I'd appreciate any advice you guys have.
Thanks, Kip.........

Is the reach actually 1cm more than your old bike?
With the different frame and bars the reach could easily be altered by more (or less) than what the different stem length would indicate.

I'm curious about the rest of your build. I have a lot of stuff I haven't decided on yet. Wheels, handlebars?

BUT: please help me here if you can.
After some internet research, I came to conclusion that BBInfinite one-piece BBright/DUB Ceramitech bottom bracket would be a really good setup. Ordered it- and BBInfinite rents their custom install tool for $15. But when I inspected the BB area of the bike, I noticed that there are some circumferentially machined areas at the outer areas of the BB bore that are slightly larger ID than the rest of the central ID section of the bore by about 0.007". I don't believe a one-piece BB can work in this bike. I have attached a picture. The other side of the BB bore also has this machined area with larger ID.
Could this be a manufacturing defect? Is yours like this? If it is, I'm guessing you used a 2-piece BB. What BB did you wind up using?
In Cervelo forum, I saw some posts from 2015 that specifically mentioned installing BBInfinite BBs in an R3 with no problem- they were very happy. I don't get it.....
(I was not allowed to attach the picture because I don't have enough posts. Hopefully you get the idea of the problem)

Hard for me to understand what you are saying without pics. As long as it is BBRight it should be ok. I don’t have lots of experience building bikes, as my R3 was the first and only bike I built myself, but my BBRight BB from Praxis was 2 piece. Are you sure you are installing on the correct side?

The BBInfinite hasn't arrived yet. But after watching install videos, I don't think it will work. Maybe they'll let me post photo here in forum soon.
But: "one-piece": entire BB assembly is one solid piece. Presses in from the left and (I believe) right side bearing shoulder is slightly smaller ID. But if central section of bore is slightly smaller than both machined area at outer ends of bore, the assembly can't pass thru. I have emailed BBInfnite with pic- haven't heard back yet.

I would really have to see pics. The center bore on most (if not all) BBs is a smaller diameter than the ends. That is normal.

Just got mine- same color as yours- but disc set up.
The pictures don't do these justice. This is one of the most finely made things I've ever seen or owned. If it rides as good as it looks....
I was gonna install a one-piece BB from BBInfinite, but center bore area of BB bore on bike is a little smaller ID that outer shoulder ID areas,
so I don't see how it will work.
