The RD R8000 is an 11-speed rear derailleur and your 6700 shifters (and I assume the cassette you specified) are 10-speed. Shimano altered the geometry of their rear derailleurs when going from 10 to 11-speed and the required cable pull is no longer the same as 10-speed.
The backwards compatibility Shimano had from 7-speed all the way through 10-speed for most groups stopped at 11-speed. You need to obtain either an 11-speed shifter and cassette or a 10-speed rear derailleur.

Any Shimano 9-speed MTB rear derailleur will do fine. Don't get a 10-speed MTB rear derailleur as they also have different geometry and won't work with a 10-speed road shifter.

The M591 RD I mentioned above has the been the go-to solution for a RD for your situation for awhile now, in regard to new parts and the "best" available that is compatible. Supply chain breakdown may make it hard to find at the moment, unfortunately. Maybe they are available online, I don't know.

‘You *may* have read that the CS-HG700-11 11/34 11-speed cassette fits on a 10-speed freehub and in your old age gotten that mixed up. Maybe.

Go to the spreadsheet here. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...#gid=847158527 Far right column shows the "pull ratio". Look for anything with a 1.7 ratio and it will work with your 10 speed shifters. Just make sure that it can handle "maximum low" 34 cog size for a double crank and possibly a 32 max low would also work.

I’m not familiar with the cable attach point on the newer Shimano derailleurs, so I’ll ask.
Is it possible to do an alternate cable routing on the RD-8000, (similar to what was done on the early Dura Ace), to run 10 speed shifters with an 11 speed derailleur?
I’m running the shifter cable to the opposite side to run 74XX DA shifters with a 900 XTR RD. I realize tolerances are a lot tighter now.
Since everything is already installed, is this an option?
Has anyone tried this, or does the current design prevent it?

I always concluded that the "alternate cable routing" that made 8-speed DA rear derailleurs work with non-DA shifters, etc. was a lucky accident and the technique can't be applied to every mis-match. Buy the correct derailleur or the correct shifter.

While the 74XX DA cable routing might have been lucky, in reality it is just a mechanical application that adjusts the distance to the pivot to change the ratio. And that was a limited universe compared to The number of people wanting to run larger cogs on a 10 speed system. Wider range cassettes seem to be the direction everything is going.
Going back a decade or two to solve an issue isn’t really a great choice. Just like other speeds in the past, some people may not want 11 and 12 speed systems. I’m running older tech, but Lord knows the new tech is better. And I would really hate to go from Ultegra 8000 (in hand) to 9 speed Deore.
Someone could calculate where the attach point should be and probably make a pretty simple bolt-on mod. I doubt anyone would produce it in numbers, but it would be a nice alternative. Mechanical cable pull isn’t rocket science.
John
Edit Added: The real long term solution is aftermarket programmable electronic shifting.

I would try the community Cycling Center on Alberta and 17th to see if they have an XT 9 speed rear derailleur. M771 or M772 (shadow) is what you want.
That RD will work great in your setup.
