WGB 

Looking for a Shimano BB-5500 V1 Octalink cartridge bottom bracket.
I need the one for a double crank which is 68 x 109.5.Only other one I've seen was the 68 x 118.5 which is for the triple (oddly, triple BB-5500's seem a lot cheaper).

I got one as part of a bundled group deal but these bottom brackets seem to be an evolutionary dead end so getting kind of hard to find. Figured I'd ask if anyone has one in a drawer they'll never use........

Will pay cash for a new one.

Hey Skip, about 2wks after I made this post I had to fly to Switzerland for work, and I don't want to recount what happened in the weeks and months after return. Pedals were the least of my concerns.

Needless to say, they're still around, they spin very smooth. I really like them, pulled them off one my occasional riders a couple years ago to clean them up, bought some black gun bluing to refinish the side plates, never got to it. Missing one of the dust caps (RIP).

Pedals are great but I've realized I'm low on spindles right now. I could specifically use a few different lengths of 70mm/ITA spindles and it wouldn't hurt to have a couple of random 68mm also. Nothing fancy required, but it would really help if they're triple-capable (120-123mm range)..

PS - Only reason pedal-for-pedal trade wont work - this is my pedal overflow bin. Doesn't include anything I've got tucked into project boxes I use to keep frames with their parts. The number of pedals around my place is too damn high!

I've been intermittently searching for 1/2" pedals that would look at home on a '66 Schwinn 3 speed. I have pedals for it, but the right spindle is bent, the rubber blocks roll around underfoot, and they weren't built to be rebuildable. That might be too low brow for your bin, but I'd be happy to help with your overpopulation problem.

I'll check through my pulled spindles, I might have some long JIS 68mm spindles in good shape. I honestly don't remember if I pulled them because the spindles were worn, or the cups were worn.

I'm interested (lack of dust cap is no problem - I can source them), but I doubt I can help much with bb spindles. I'll look, but I think I disposed of most of mine not long ago. I'll ping you off-list. Perhaps we can figure out a suitable trade.

No real world reason to be set on stainless. Shapeways black steel has held up fine, both strength wise and corrosion wise, for me on the Huret RD locating tabbed washers. Pretty similar stress applications; I'd have no issue using the plain black steel for the Campy RD locator. If I had one, it would already be getting printed to test my theory out.

Got the 68mm spindle squared away. Now I'm hunting a 120-123ish 70mm spindle (measuring 55mm between edge races, "B" measure below versus the 52mm most 68mm spindles show). A+B+C measure is negligible for me as long as overall is 120-123mm

I don't have any of the old rubber-block pedals, but I do have a pair of older rat traps that may fit the bill. Yours for the cost of shipping. I can measure any part of the rat-traps you want, just let me know.

Their basic "bronzed-silver" material (a horrible name for it) isa 60% stainless 40% bronze mix. Far as I know, every Shapeways steel material is the same thing.

"Black Steel" is the same material, with black iron oxide added to the surface. Price is the same for either. Case in point, a pair of custom hex bit tools comes out to a whopping $30, no matter which steel material is chosen. They also led me on a merry-go-round when I ordered them, wound up charging me $7 extra as they docked me for having a sprue on it initially, and after a month of delays, STILL won't be shipping them to me until the 12th of August.

The most space I have is defined by a triangle of 6"x6"x4". The short side is from tube to tube, long sides running along the tubes. Anyone having something that will fit that space?

ISO: Athena or Chorus first gen loose-ball bottom bracket with its 111mm spindle.

Just got my hands on a Chorus crank, but no bb. The bike had a Shimano bb, but the 116mm symmetrical spindle is toast. I want to get away from JIS this time.

It's just a *very* slow queue, and I'm fairly ticked off that after spending two weeks with a very apologetic support team that they only expedited the *shipping* and still billed the extra $7.

They don't discount quantity, far as I know.

I think I have a pair of solid steel Unions or similar, and several Lyotard 136R in various states. I'm pretty sure all of them are 9/16 vs. metric if it matters. I don't think I have anything lightweight like the super-amazing ultralight MKS Sylvain Touring pedals.

Oh, and I haven't forgotten about you sending me the spoke nipples in ... uh ... creative packaging. Got a good chuckle out of that. Let me know what you need.

Folks,
Once again the war department has gotten wound up. The thing that started it was another city deer issue (eating her garden plants like it was a salad bar) and the fire spread quickly. So today's special value to another C&V member is this Parks double repair stand assembly with two heads and new clamp parts. I think I have roughly $600 in this set up destined for my local co-op who said no thanks! As always cost of shipping which may be close to a C-note.
