Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The more I think about it, the more I think it's not really a useful guide. I mean, I'm finding the hoods AS comfortable as they were before the stem/bar change, and the drops MORE comfortable, so it seems like maybe it's just a superstition, OR based on a time when most bars had a lot longer reach.

Current dealer website shows base Fit MSRP 17.9K and on "sale" for 17.6K. I think we have some "rewards" valuing several hundred dollars towards next purchase (from loyalty program for the minivan repairs), not sure how much of a better deal I can get but will see. I think the Fit makes more sense than the Civic because of versatile seats for cargo etc. even though it's a smaller car. A new base Civic is about 21K.

I honestly think the new car will go from mrs datlas to me if/when the Saturn dies anyway and I don't care much about cars, obv.
It is shocking how much interior space the fit has.

My ex had a Hyundai sub compact and even then it was obvious how much less respect other drivers give you. I had a Grand Wagoneer which had a 6 inch lift and big tires. She loved to drive it because drivers act so different than when you are in a small car.

Going from the Prius to the GX it was jarring how differently people acted.

I was the fastest driver on the outerbelt today, at 55mph. Off rush hour, of course. But even then, they don't go to 70; there are too many slo-pokes clogging all the lanes

Wow! I thought the Civic would win out. Much more mainstream car. Congrats. What color?

Which is why, back in The Olden Times (i.e. before March), I loved that my job allows me to commute off hours, AND that it's in the opposite direction of most traffic flow. I would see those poor buggers, 4 lanes of crawling cars on the other side of the freeway and snicker.

I don't think I'd bother JB welding that.

My JB Weld repair was on a seatpost that was originally manufactured by gluing the head into the post. The top of the post cracked so I removed all the old glue, slathered everything with JB Weld, then put a heavy duty hose clamp around the top of the post.

Correct. The failure started occurring long before the crack became visible.

I got a bottle of Jager today to use as a health tonic. They say to use in moderation, which is kinda vague so I'm going with 3 oz.
