2004 Colnago Master X-Light
Since bike shops in the city are totally sold out of bikes <$1,500, I'm turning to craigslist to find a zippy commuter and weekend warrior. Problem is, I don't have the bike knowledge to know what is worth $1,000+ and when somebody is asking too much. Does anybody have any idea what this bike should be worth? I can't post a link to the ad so here is the description below (photos show a bike that looks to be in good to fair condition)
This bike is for riding not displaying. There is some chipped paint and general wear on the components. The shifting is great. The shifters were rebuilt by a specialist in Seattle in 2016. They have plenty of spring. Because of an elbow injury, I put some clip-on tri bars on it. They are part of the package, but you could easily remove them if you dislike them. Also, the bike has two carbon water bottle cages. Just cuz. Weighs about 17-18lb and is very smooth to ride.
Make: Colnago Master X Light (the last steel frame made by Colnago)
Year: 2004
Size: 55.5cm from center pedal bolt to top of seat tube
Standover: 80cm
Top Tube: 54cm
Groupset: Record 10 Speed with a triple on the front
Seatpost: Campy Chorus Titanium (pretty rare and cool imo)
Pedals: Shimano XTR PD-M9000 (SPD)
Wheels: Mavic Open Pro
Hubs: Record
Fork: Standard Colnago Carbon
Handlebars and Stem: Alloy

56cm Colnago Steel Master X Light with Record 10sp - $1000
I love this bike, but am selling because of my recent move to the city requiring I thin out the herd. I bought it in almost showroom condition back in 2014, but have ridden it 5-7 thousand miles since then. This bike is for riding not displaying. I've seen that listing. If it were a cm smaller, I'd have bought it.

I thought about buying it for the parts and flipping the frame...the frame looks solid and it would shine up nicely.
A nice Rabobank Master frameset on Ebay would go for $800 easily, even with a few scuffs.
Probably more.

I assume this is the bike:

$1000 is reasonable for the bike.
The Merlin you also have in your album might also go close to that amount. I think the Merlin frame is slightly larger.
