Crankset Replacement
I love my new Defy, except for the crankset. It's a boat anchor, and it's in my head. The bike is mostly R7000, but Giant used a non-group, non-hollowtech crankset (Shimano FC-RS510).
I've been waiting on a lightly used R7000/8000 to show up, but to no avail.
I saw the post below in the deals forum for a $247 5800 groupset. For the sake of argument, assume it's legit (I know it looks scammy). Would it be an ok idea to buy this groupset for the crankset, cassette, and chain, and sell the rest on eBay (brifters, brakes, and derailleurs)?
I figure I'm getting about $200 of value out of the cranks, cassette, and chain, and I feel like I could sell the other parts on eBay for $150, maybe even $200.
The only thing is that I'm only saving 151g, I was hoping for 200g.
Different crankset options and weight differences:
FC-RS510 908g (2.0 lbs) <======== Current Crankset
R8000 - 234g lighter (.52 lbs lighter)
R7000 - 195g lighter (.43 lbs lighter)
5800 - 151g lighter (.33 lbs lighter)

It's not legit, so why even waste time thinking about it?

You're better off buying just the crankset and a bottom bracket on eBay, or craigslist.

Just get the crankset. Shimano FC-R7000 at Universal Cycles are available today for $137. It'll probably fit your existing BB. Though I'd recommend replacing with new.
You can put a 10 speed hollowtech II in there too. Or just get some other brand. I liked the RaceFace I put in one of my bikes. They are more into mountain bikes I think, but they had a decent road crank back seven or eight years ago.

I have a Defy as well and find it very confusing to determine what cranksets can be used as replacements for the unfortunately included FC-RS510. I am considering the Praxis Zayante Carb 4iiii Power to add a power meter at the same time. If this would work, what bottom bracket would I need? The options I see from Praxis are BSA threaded, BB30, PF30, and T47 external bearing. Bonus points if you can tell me what this means: "If ordering the crank with 4iiii power, you can request DM1X ring in your order notes."
