700c Tires on Mtn Bike

Would it be possible to fit 700x47 or 700x50 tires on my mountain bike ?

These are the current specs
Rim 29x1.75
Inner tube 29x1.95
Current tire 29x2.20

I recently put these an my mtb. LOVE THEM!! Much smoother and faster ride. Mine are 26" but they make them in 29" too.

Sure, but hookless rims are common in mtb and may create an unsafe condition if the rims are in fact hookless and the tyres are not chosen with care. Meaning compatible with hookless.

Saw a guy over in Austin with a small group. Mixed in with all the REI Road Bikes and REI Kits was a Classic Stump Jumper with what appeared to be 700c Road tires. The young guy was wearing cut offs and a t shirt and looked like he was controlling the group.

It was probably his old man's bike.

Made me proud.

And yes, I am one of those geezers that when driving will slow down and linger just to see who's ridding what. It's all fun...

I converted my MTB to a rigid hybrid and run Schwalbe Marathons 1.75 and will be going down to Supremes 40 mm width next tire change.

imagine how much faster you would go if you used fast rolling quality tires.

What are 'REI road bikes'?

REI has a private label bike brand called CO-OP, but it is a very low volume brand and the models are gravel and mtb.
REI sells Cannondale and some other brands, but that's no different from any bike shop.

And what is 'REI kit'? Rei's private label cycling clothing is hardly popular amongst roadies and the rest of the haphazardly stocked clothing selection at every REI I've been to is just a bunch of clothing that could be purchased at typical bike shops.

Sure... Ya know the answer... Stuff marketed by REI of course. Whats of interesting note is that this is not a bad thing, per say. Gone are the old Bike Shops. Its just impossible for them to make a decent profit. I feel for them. And Kits, for some, is whats in line with a style rather then what us geezers wear for utility and comfort.

We do have to get out there and ride, and if we have to use REI to do it then just fine... Ride.

I really get your point. Whats sad is when we have those fancy riders looking down on someone who is not following the stylish uniformity, well, thats all wrong...

You are just babbling at this point. Your initial comments made no sense and your follow up makes even less sense.

I don't do that because it makes cyclists nervous.

Seriously!

And it's "riding," not "ridding"!
