I have a sweet vintage Schwinn Varisty roadbike for sale. This bike was rough when i got it but the brakes worked and the 27" wheels rolled nice and smooth. Stripped it down (removed: shifters, derailluers, cassette, larger front chain ring) and converted to a single speed. The old cassette was replaced with a BMX-style thread on freewheel (this bike could just as easily be converted to a fixed-gear) and with the frame having horizontal drop-outs there is no need for a chain-tensioner. I think this lends a sleek look to the bike. As can be seen in the photos the bar tape, tires, chain, brake cable and housing, and saddle have all been replaced. The brake pads were also replaced. This bike is solid and blast to ride . The gearing is perfect for getting around Chatt, nice and easy for getting up hills, but is not so easy you find youself spinning away at the pedals. I am not sure of the frame size but it fits me fine at 5'10". This is a great way to get around town...and on this bike, with a little style, too. Open to any resonable offer. Better pics available.

CL Rule 41: All fixed gear bikes are "sweet"
(and often "fast").

I want to sell my 56cm Surly Steamroller. This bike is sweet.
Schwinn Single Speed - $175
Date: 2011-01-14, 1:07PM PST
Selling my bike
Its a sweet old Chicago style Schwinn
.

Sweet single speed SE Lager for sale.
I realize I run the risk here of coming off as
a fixed gear hater; but sweet Jesus, is there
no travesty in which these guys will not engage ?

Only $1599! For a Fake Paramount?

I'm confused! Unless the components are worth the asking price, the price seems excessive for a fake.

I'm surprised they used the word "fake". Aren't you suppose to say "tribute".

He's also listing:Vintage Sturmey Archer 3 speed Cable Pulley Guide
NOSPrice: US $25.00

vintage austro daimler road bike steal shimano rigida
Price: US $450.00

So it's not like you can't make out a consistent pricing
strategy. May have low or no reserve, in which case
stuff on e-bay brings what it brings. Thank god I found
a 12 step program.

That's Budget Bicycle Center in Madison. Notorious for over-pricing, both IRL and on ebay. That's not even the worst example, there are tons of awful 70s Huffys, Columbias, etc being flogged for $300+.

Must be why I get them "OEM" and upgraded with factory coaster brakes.

Umm...that's cruisers and middleweights for you.

How Many Flaws Can You Find! (Poster Says the Bike is in Excellent Condition)

So So Sad! Poster says that the bike is in excellent condition! There are at least three serious problems with this bike. How many can you find?

I posted this bike in this section before, but these newer pictures demand a second look.

https://detroit.craigslist.org/mcb/bik/2253003795.html

DIAMONDBK--Hybrid-- MB - $120 (SHELBY)

excellent condition -like new-26 inch -18 speed---quick release wheels---rr caarrier--- comfort seat----------best offer---BILL

(Help Me Post Pictures Please)

Flaws
1. Bent fork
2. Lower Bottom Bracket (Pedals will certainly touch when turning)
3. Chain is too long (This one is less obvious--you have to blow up the picture. In the smaller chainrings, the chain will certainly sag.)

Well, two are obvious to me, but for the third all I can think of is Smokes were rear tire specific, which ain't exactly all that serious.

I am selling a wonderful bicycle, which is perfect for a tall woman or man. I am 6'2 and I have to use the tip of my toes while stopped, if not leaning over. This is a really FAST, FAST, FAST, racing bike! It has never been outside overnight, and has been indoors.

It is so fast, I consistently past other cyclists without pedaling EASILY. You should definitely wear a helmet while riding this bike. If you are interested in competing in marathons, triathlons, or competitive events, this bike will DEFINITELY give you the upper hand.

SPECIFICATIONS:

65" Frame
Weinnman DPI QUICK RELEASE rims
I am posting this from a coffee shop, and need to go home to get the rest of the specs.

You may contact me for more pictures.

SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY. PRICE NEGOTIABLE.

You should definitely wear a helmet while riding this bike.
The rest of the listing makes perfect sense.

Location: Bushwick
My own previous favorite, the $1000 purple Varsity from
Sheboygan, Wisconsin, is now pretty much eclipsed.
