This one is more funny for the email he sent to me after I inquired:

sdmbb-3445671325@sale.craigslist.org[SUP][?][/SUP]

Vintage touring bike bike complete 7 speed bar end shifters working brakes email or text 2673408165 for pics and details

My inquiry:

Please send photos and details (size for starters) to xxx-xxx-xxxx

Based on your asking price, I’m assuming this is a Tom Kellogg cro-mo Ross.

The response:

Its a 52-54cm touring bike with mountain bike wheels and is steel early mountain bike cross hybrid prob not what u want nothing hi end to steal hahaha and price is based off supply and demand of cross bikes complete and ready to hit trails , woods , and super mud or snow ? Pass on ad if u don't want but about 7 hits already n just posted a couple hours ago and honest what u looking for will cost u I have seen your ads !

I'm not sure what he means by he's seen my ads (I haven't really listed much, and nothing expensive, in quite a while), or how he'd know they're mine.

I suspect he meant he's comparing it to other ads and has trouble expressing things in something resembling colloquial English. It's been at least 10 months since I've listed a bike on CL for anything over $400.

Vintage- The year or place in which wine, esp. wine of high quality, was produced.

None of you are selling bikes made of wine.

Also, there are NO collectors for Schwinn, it just doesn't happen. If they're collecting, they're not collecting your beat up scratched up pos with rotten tires and bent mismatched wheels. Period.

The word you're looking for isn't Antique either. the word is "old"

your old 1970's bike that was only 200.00 to begin with isn't worth triple that now, being all torn up and used up. You can say I'm wrong, but that's why many of you list the same damn bike for months at a time and still don't sell it.

Here is todays protip. Go to Ebay, type in the pos bike you're selling, click "completed listings" add shipping price to total price and there you have it. A real world market value of what people will pay. you can also see what people won't pay. ie your original price.

You're welcome.

Good point. I know a few guys who build "freakbikes," and they know better than to sell them to the litigious general populace.

+1, although, I guess you could have the buyer sign a waiver. But then again, isn't a waiver just a starting point in a lawsuit when achieving a settlement? That's what I heard: the waiver is worth no more than the ink put on it

Yet another brilliant cl photo, nothing like a good detailed shot to sell the bike.

in all honesty- I would pay 75 bucks for it
it takes a lot of time to build one and this actually looks pretty cool.
he got both brakes to work, and split the rear triangle very nicely.

Drewed Chris Kvale

Came across this Chris Kvale on Chicago CL:

https://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/bik/3446156481.html

From the ad:
Beautiful custom Chris Kvale fixed gear/single speed.Chris is a highly regarded frame builder out of Minneapolis. https://www.chriskvalecycles.com/CKC/Home.html What we have here is a fine example of Chris' framebuilding skill.
....
This gorgeous bicycle was re-configured and re-finished by Chris in 2004. All braze-ons including rear derailleur hanger and shifter bosses were removed. Rear spacing was re-set to 120mm to accomodate track hubs. Bridges were shortened and replaced. It's basically a track bike with horizontal drop outs.
If I read this correctly, the Drewing was done by Chris Kvale himself. They say the customer is always right. I'm not so sure though...

If that's true, the ad should have read " Chris USED TO BE a highly regarded frame builder out of Minneapolis."

Meh. It's a bike.
The finished product looks really clean and tastefully done (no hipster deep v's or micro riser, etc) to me - cable routing notwithstanding .

No, I'm pretty sure that's a Schwinn Cruiser Supreme or Deluxe. The ones with cantilever brakes and dual top tubes are especially cool.

the price aside, his reason for selling is pretty funny given the handle bar positioning.
