Has anybody tried adapting a Cateye light mount to other mounts?

The standard mount looks pretty basic and easy to disassemble, held together by a simple screw. In theory, I could use a drill or dremel to create the right sized hole for whatever screw mount I need -- or perhaps use some kind of strong glue or epoxy putty -- to affix some female bushing to support the desired mount (e.g. tripod mount)?
Has anyone done anything like that before? Would like to hear your experiences, as well as how secure the mod is (e.g. I wouldn't want the thing to break and fall off while riding on rough roads).

btw just to clarify exactly wtf am I trying to achieve, I want to fit 3 items on my bike: the Garmin, a light and an action camera. Two caveats: my handlebars are the flat aero type, so space is limited, and although I can currently get them all mounted, but prefer something aesthetically pleasing than this cramped, cluttered cockpit:
I've seen combo mounts (such as from Bar Fly and K-Edge) that let me mount the Garmin in front of the stem and an action camera underneath, but this would block the light. That gave me an idea: why not adapt the action camera mount seen on the right side of my handlebars for the light instead? That would give it enough clearance away from the Garmin. Either that, or mod the Cateye mount to Gopro, but that would mean mounting the light upside down underneath the Garmin... which I'm not sure is a good idea or not in regards to waterproofing.
But if anyone has any better ideas, I'm all ears too.
