Wrong Way Bicyclist in Bellingham Video
Folks:
While innocently taking video footage for purposes of production of Bellingham bicycle corridors video, I encountered not one, but two bad moves which caused a near accident. So I decided to create this video (with my own music) showing what happened!
Enjoy!

Old and in the way.
The same folks that ride on the left (that's the wrong side here in the USA) will also try and take the inside thus forcing the law abiding cyclist into traffic. This tends to be more of an issue in rural areas that have higher traffic speeds and narrower shoulders. You gotta be on your A game in the Styx.
I don't know in Bellingham but in Portland or Eugene you would be looking at a stern warning from the local constabulary or maybe a ticket.

Time for some new laws :
Bicycles should always be granted the right of way.
and
Everyone should ride a bicycle. That way there's no cars to cause collisions.

We have a pair of new-ish segregated bike lanes (low concrete dividers between car travel lanes and the bike lane) on parallel one-way streets a few blocks from my house. Each bike lane is clearly marked with arrows indicating they are one way the same direction as car travel. One of them has attracted a slew of wrong-way bikers I hadn't previously seen before the lane improvements, and it is super frustrating to me. I actually stopped a couple getting on their bikes and starting to head the wrong way explaining what they were doing was hazardous to bikers following the rules, and they, no joke, said back to me "But everybody's doing it."

Stopping in the salmon's path was vastly more dangerous than the salmon salmoning in the first place.
