The Sickest Shift I Have Ever Experienced

Was accelerating pretty hard through a stop sign today. Seems like the bike was upshifting on its own a little bit when pedalling hard. It resulted in a shift so hard and responsive, I felt the rear rim chatter against the pavement slightly as the derailleur flicked into the next smallest cog. Such an awesome and responsive shift, I felt I had to share. I think it's because of the stiffer spring in my suntour derailleur which caused the shift to be so positive. It was just like the chattering you get when dumping the clutch in a manual transmission at high engine RPM's!

We are polar opposites. I take pride in my smooth shifting and quiet chain-cog-rdr interface.

I do too. That was unintentional. I always try to shift smooth.

Remember the car dealer who advertised "We lose money on every deal but make it up in volume."

So, to recap: you were running a stop sign, your bike is so poorly tuned that the bike was "upshifting on its own," and apparently you had no rear tire, since you "felt the rear rim chatter against the pavement."

If that's worth bragging about, I wonder what would make you feel sheepish?

Lmao, no I did have a rear tire installed of course. Yes my rear derailleur is f*ked right now. That shift had to make up for it though.

Sick shift, bro!

Gotta love a broken bike that is doing what it shouldn't and is clearly not safe to ride and someone is proud of that fact. It never ceases to amaze. I guess ride it like you stole it (out of the bike shop's dumpster) really applies in this situation

I love bikes, a lot but there is no way I would ride something that is so f'ed like it was a good working bike and then brag about it. I would head down to my local shop and say "hey, can you guys get this safely rideable, I don't wanna die". Well I guess I am a modern man and I gotta "lust for life", I do drive a GTO all on a government loan! (and if you don't know now you know)

Maybe the rear rim was smaller than the front one.

My Sram 7 RD on both my bike and trike shift almost flawlessly every time. Almost no noise at all.

Personally I like the guy that tells me on TV that his instant coffee tastes just as good as fresh perked. He make used car dealers seem like the paragon of virtue.

The only question is: does Moisture know that he's a troll?

I've replaced my rear derailleur with a brand new Acera long cage which I got from the bikehub.

No more skipping in any gear! However, on my ride home, I did notice some ghost shifting just once. Otherwise, everything was good.

I think I can chalk that up to this derailleur not being designed around non indexed shifting. It is much more picky about line tension in each gear versus my old suntour.

I'll get a pic tommorow.
