I saw this tour when it came through Houston, along with Insomnium (who I'm also a fan of) and Elantris (they didn't play due to band member injury). Good show overall, although I liked Epica's setlist better on some of the past tours.

DISCLAIMER: Pop music interlude
This one has been out for a while, really pretty melodies. I've always been a sucker for melody, so much so that I've been accused of merely vamping chords that outline the melody when it's my time to go. Think McCoy Tyner...
This one is on the radio right now, pretty catchy:
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

And, in the Broaden Your Horizons category . . .
Anyway, I'm really into Early Music. It's an old saw, by now, that the music world is characterized by rampant commercialization; can't say I disagree with this. Then, there is Jordi Savall . . . .

I've been listening to @mattm 's apple music list mega, which needs continuous updating. get on that. I don't know how to find other people's apple music lists, so I just have him and one other dude in my "friends" feed.

I listen to the same **** for about a year, then update it to new versions/albums/singles of the same **** for the most part. 'mega' won't get updated, but look out for 'power' that just dropped, it's legit.

For awhile, my teammates and I had a weekly playlist on Spotify. Someone would create a theme and everyone contributed 2-3 songs within that theme. Some selections were contentious.
It kind of fizzled out though. Still, it was a lot of fun, and introduced me to a fantastic Ben Folds Five cover of a well known Dr. Dre song about women not being important. (The actual title wouldn't pass the filter on this forum.)
If you haven't heard the song, I encourage you to listen to it on YouTube. It's a truly great cover.

I suggest finding a set of podcasts in the genre of music that you enjoy. I get so much music in my podcast feed I can't keep up most of the time. When I'm riding outdoors, I do fine, but now-a-days its hard!

After music night last night, we went on a bit of a Beatles tirade. My guitar player mentioned that his favorite song was Her Majesty... What a choice!
In other news, we played Well You Needn't for the first time together and killed it!!! He was a little daunted by the chords at first, but when you realize that every interval in the song is a half-step increment, its becomes easy when you realize it's all about rhthym and chromaticism - almost doesn't matter what you play as long as you modulate it to the beat.

That was always one of my favorites as a kid. Kinda weird it has it's own track, you can't JUST put on that song. I really liked the whole album so it worked out.

Started playing my guitar again off and on. It has been a while. I played a lot when I was in college. It is a 1957 Gibson ES-125. A low end Gibson, but with sweet P90 pickup. I bought it in 1967 with a Gibson hard shell case for $75.

I have been retired since July 1.
Now riding for fun only. No longer fast for an old guy and much heavier than I used to be. I still like riding, but no longer feeling that I must ride in bad weather just to keep up with my training and also for hardening up for races in bad weather. I kind of liked foul weather racing for having much smaller fields and a lot less crazy stuff being done.

Seeing Gareth Emery in concert tomorrow. This is his most recent release and I'm just so stoked. One of my favorite producers.

This is for sure a re-post on my behalf (at some point)...
Cal Tjader 1956. The intricacy of the rhythm section was "Miles ahead" at the time. Nowadays one would say that this **** is spitting "hot fire".

Concert last night was amazing. 5 hours of bangin' music. 2 hour main set by Gareth was just... amazing. Fan for life for the way he treated the crowd. He does these shows basically every night around the country and he still seemed almost emotional when he came out to thank us after his set.
Turning point in the set came when he dropped concrete angels. Already one of my faves and this just set the mood.
