You gotta pedal. In every case. And in most cases, you gotta put in lots of work on the climbs. If you get the chance to ride any Ebikemotion hybrid you will understand this much better.

Even an average, fat 65 year old rider like me does 7 or 8000 miles in that time. I'm not putting you down for it but it doesn't seem like you ride very much.
I would not compare riding a bike with riding an e-bike for the most part. They are two different things (mostly).

I guess this means all of the good food at the post ride feeds will be gone by the time I get there. I will have to settle for the crumbs. Dang you, E-bikes!

However, not everyone thinks the same (and thank god!) and I do believe that E-bicycles are the new thing to attract a specific group of costumer who have different interests than ours, and it's just fine. As I said, the more cyclists there are, the better for our community.

All of the E-bike riders here are opening up their closet doors and coming out. Spilling their souls to the forum. I guess that is better than going to the support groups.

My fearless prediction is the world will be littered with battery powered motorized bikes in 10 years.
IMHO, there are intrinsic rewards from actually achieving cycling goals that a motor robs me from gaining under my own effort. I find struggling up a mountain road and gaining better fitness is life affirming and meaningful on its own merits. A motor makes it less demanding, even delightfully easy. I would lose interest in the sport of cycling. It would be akin to gambling and never losing.
Technology has its downsides.

You sound like every film photographer back in the 90's who refused to go digital. I rode one and I loved it. I ride a minimum of 50 miles a week now. On long treks with steep inclines f yes I would love the assist.

And you sound like you just don't get it. Holding 170 bpm for 45 min on a mountain climb and getting to the top is WHY I love cycling. If I was looking for something easy, I'd play golf.

This shorter than average, incredibly fit, 60+ year old guy with no artificial parts will probably ride only 1500 - 2000 miles over the year on his eBikes. So I'm with the guy who rides a 1000 and loves it.

When you train hard and get in better shape you go further faster. When you add an electric motor you have a different set of circumstances. Who has the biggest motor? Who by-passed the speed restriction? Who is carrying the most batteries?

Who cares how big the motor is if there is a speed limit for all bikes on any given path or trail.
I can tell you this. I have ridden all kinds of analog bikes and have owned over a dozen motorcycles. Hands down my ebike is the funnest thing I have ever ridden and also most likely the safest thing too. From standing to 20mph No analog bike can come close to it. So it gets through intersections in the blink of an eye. It has 2.35 schwab moto x tires with 203mm hydraulic disc brakes that will stop it on a dime. I can set it to give my any kind of workout I want at any given minute. I do not have to worry about aero so I have it setup for good form so I don't mess up by back and shoulders. I also have 20yrs in teaching yoga classes and I have had many cyclist over the years come to me with mess up backs and shoulders.
The point I am making is if you putting the same watts into any bike. You getting the same workout. I don't care what kind of bike your riding. But with an ebike you have choices that you do not have on an analog bike and some people can not handle that because it messes with their egos.
