Recumbent What IS that thing?! Recumbents may be odd looking, but they have many advantages over a "wedgie" bicycle. Discuss the in's and out's recumbent lifestyle in the recumbent forum.

Back On The Recliner

After a 2 year break from riding because of a deteriorating mitral valve in my heart, I'm back on the seat of my E Sport AX. I refer to the seat as my Lazy Boy Recliner. Total comfort on wheels.

The leaky valve has been rebuilt and I can breathe again. What a difference. Anyway, I started with 4 mile rides, upped it to six and next week I'll start with nines. Sounds wimpy but I have to defer to the cardio Docs. They are a conservative lot. However, they like the idea of bike riding, especially on a relatively flat creek side trail that has no cars. So they said O.K. with a worried look in their eye. So I'm easing back into it. I really had forgotten how nice life is after a good sweaty ride.

So I'm loving it once more and am continuing to recover from open heart surgery. YES! bk.

I hope I am never in your situation, but I wish you all the best. In fact, this is the "real" reason I ride—to keep my heart healthy. The fact that I'd almost rather be riding than doing anything else is secondary … really … honest … trust me …

Keep up the good work!

Excellent news! When my wife had a heart attack in Jan., I thought her riding days might be over but pure joy of seeing her take her first ride on her trike afterwards was just awesome!! Now we ride a "recumbent tandem trike" together and LOVE it! Hope all continues to go well, ENJOY!
