Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

You'll miss me when I'm gone

On vacation I mean. I'm warning you, my Dad has a lovely seaside villa in Greece, but it has a dial up modem, so you will have to get your Pcad Fix by searching for old threads. There are dozens of Pcad Threads for you to peruse, and it's all free (I keep asking them for royalties but then they threaten to ban me for asking).

I'll be back here on August 30th. Now, BEHAVE YOURSELVES, particularly Banana, the latest in a string of twenty-ish pukes who think they can match wits with Uncle Pcad. Silly little WEENIES.

If by some miracle the plane doesn't auger in, or I don't skid off the Greek mountain roads on my Six13 after running into an unmarked roadbed washout on a 12% descent @ 35 mph (this happened several times last trip) or I don't get stung to death (the big local cash crop in my Dad's area is honey and the bees were stinging me about once a day) I will be back here on Labor Day Weekend to post my Travel Blog.

All I can say is that I'll be riding 50-70 miles daily in the 90º Arizona-like heat through the mountains, eating much less because I hate Greek food with a passion, and I'll get back to NY skinnier than Tom Hanks in the last part of Castaway. But I'll still be too fat for this sport.

Have a nice trip. Make sure to have your team photographer take plenty of pics of you riding so we can envy you.

I wish I could go. Unfortunately I have no uncles in Europe, but Holiday Inn is housing me for my Oktoberfest visit in Munich

didn't you just go on a vacation to Greece?
or did I magically end up in the past?

Saw the title and had visions of you sticking your head in the oven with "Starry, starry night..." playing in the background.

Screw the internet. I've never been to Greece, spent some time in Rome, and it wasn't on the computer.

People around here will be so busy trying to come up with new multipliers for their quoted "one hour solo ride time" or divisors for their flat tire repair times that they'll never notice your absence.

Have a good time.

Ahhhh, you make me look forward to my 2 week upcoming trip to Portugal and Spain even more. Take tons of pictures. You know it never actually happened unless you have a 80 picture pictorial here!!!
