Aero Brakes on my Raleigh Rebuild

I'm getting together the last of the parts for the rebuild of my raleigh super course and I wanted your opinions..

Is it blasphemy to put aero brake levers on an older style bike like this?
Is there some reason why I shouldn't?

near as I can tell it looks cleaner and I'll have an easier time running the brake cables under the bar tape.

That sharp turn in the front cable at the hanger is an issue. In my experience, it adds friction you can feel, but not an unacceptable amount.

Mine seem to work pretty well; they take more force than a modern dual pivot brake, but modulate and stop acceptably. The bend at the hanger doesn't seem to be an issue, especially as the Cane Creek levers have a return spring. The levers also have a quick release that allows you to fit wider tires through the brakes.

Edit: Glad you like it, deez. I do too.

I've run aero levers with center pulls on two bikes. Once with amazing results another time I had barely any stopping power. I could never figure out the issue on the second bike as all the parts worked fine when installed on other machines. if it feels crappy you can always find normal levers or decent sidepull brakes for cheap.

nah, no blasphemy...just no brifters i almost always prefer the look of aero to non-aero, except in the case that non-aero cables are routed very nicely--in a clean and tight semi-circle, rather than the clumsy too-short or too-long cut on most consumer bikes. i'm thinking of race bikes of that era, a la Merckx, Martens, etc:
