2012 Langster
Looks like Specialized finally cut it down to two bikes, the Langster Pro (2004 anyone?) and the Langster.
Pretty pleased with the Pro's price point and equipment:
Yes, those are omniums and AC track wheels. The only other time a Langster had Omnium cranks was the 2007 S-Works Langster released in Japan (the US release had Dura-Ace cranks).
MSRP: $1650
The base model drops the Sugino crank, but keeps pricing consistent:

One other thing nice about the Pro is that the seatpost is reversible for a 0mm or -20mm offset.

There are a lot of very nice track bikes at that $1650 price point - they all seem to have similar equipment at that price. I dunno, I would rather ride a bike that said "S-works" rather than "langster" on the side. Maybe it is just me...
It is still a crime to make the base bike look like a track bike, when it has a geometry which plainly doesn't work at all on a track (and often won't be allowed to be ridden on a track).

If I recall correctly, it was $2,400. I managed to pick one up in 2009 for $1,600 shipped with the 404s.
Looks like the dropped the steel Langster. The "weird" Langsters were just the City Editions: Seattle (Green w/ Fenders, NY (Yellow w/ Flat bars), Chicago "Gangster", Boston, Tokyo, SF... Maybe I'm forgetting a few. But they're all in the archive.
I wouldn't be surprised if the new frame is actually just an Allez frame (or other basic road frame) with horizontal dropouts... Haven't compared the geometry sheets to test the claim.

That black and white looks awful. I mean does anyone else think the paint/graphics on Specialized bikes looks worse and worse every year? I still like my raw aluminum Lanster with plain black graphics, I guess it's just me?

Hard to really judge the paint scheme in a photo, especially with the white background, but I'm inclined to agree that it's a bit too flashy/gaudy.

i think the pro is a great looking bike, even though it looks just like the fuji track pro, and that's a great components package for $1650. i'd ride it.

black omniums come with black rings now, or atleast the new set i just bought did...i guess sram finally realized that a gunmetal ring on black cranks was just hideous.
I like the new pro, but you'd think for that price you'd get "s-works" down the side. BB still looks pretty low on it compared to most other true track bikes, atleast they got a shorter offset fork and track ends with a lot of adjustment (on the pro), and looks like they finally figured out how to build rear triangles that don't rub the seat tube with the wheel slammed forwards (both my base model langster and s-works do this). I hope they end up selling the pros as a frameset too, that would be sick.

New racers will "grow into" this bike whereas veteran racers will keep the wheels for training and maybe swap the bars, stem, and saddle to taste. Probably from their current bike.
This is a really nice offering. But, I'd wait to see if people have issues with slipping seat posts and tilting saddles with that clamp system. Lighter riders will be OK.

WTH is a "langster"? They have cool-ish names for the other bikes like: Venge, Shiv, Tarmac, RockHopper, HardRock, Dolce, Epic, Allez, Roubaix, etc...then Langster.

Notice the 1-bolt seat clamp. The single bolt goes laterally through the clamp. It's simple and easy to adjust, but those do not hold the saddle from tilting down as well as 2-bolt (front/back) seatposts do (e.g. Thomson). My Felt TK1 had that system and the seat kept tilting. I wasn't the only one who had that problem.
Also, I don't think anyone has solved the carbon seat post slipping problem 100%. Google: Aero Seatpost Slipping, and you will see what I mean.

I haven't had any issues with the seat mast on my FTP. The circular thing the bolt goes through has teeth. I'm not sure what the failure mode of this design would be if they teeth are designed to mesh fully. It's probably due to your massive buttock muscles.
