Cane Creek Thudbuster seat post

Anyone using one of these? If so, what is the effect on your comfort and efficiency?

I've got a LT on my hardtail and my stoker has a ST on our road tandem. I've got no complaints, but I'm not an especially powerful rider. It does smooth out most of the bumps on the trail. The stoker, SWMBO, hasn't said anything which usually means it works for her.

Been using the ST on my hybrid for years, very smooth compared to regular seat post for bumpy roads/gravel, but not enough travel to really have an effect on efficiency (that I notice anyway...)

They are awesome. Only possible drawback is weight in my case. They have the long travel, short travel, and a little micro thing for Gravel I assume.

We have a Suntour NCX on our mountain tandem. It is pretty solid and my wife likes it when we get on rough terrain.

I am actually thinking about buying a Jones LWB with smooth tires so the weight thing is kind of a "pound on an elephant" proposition LOL

Cool option for a little less $ I didn't know existed!

I have always had GREAT luck with Cane Creek stuff but I'll look in to this because of you!

A guy I ride tandem with sometimes has one, he says it's comfortable but it can make the tandem itself a little noodly. This is a Powderkeg with fat MTB tires at lower pressures which probably doesn't help.

Redshift makes one too which I've heard good things about.

Well weight isn't a problem then. I always felt like it was like riding on larger tires at a lot lower pressure. Makes things pretty cush. No complaints with it here.

Yep - If I wind up going with a Jones LWB then it comes with 29 x 2.8 (approx. 700 x 71) tires; I will be taking this concept to the absolute extreme! Might as well have a nice seatpost to smooth out any bumps not dampened by the enormous tires.

I am a believer in the science which drives the design and I think buying from an independent manufacturer is cool too. If you call to order a bike, Jeff Jones answers the phone, it's odd. My only question is what is the "ideal" tire width then if what we're all riding on is too narrow to be efficient? 6"? 7"???

went with a SATORI as it seems better fit for me. CC Thud was very close on the list, but the satori grab my attention better.
