Mavic 550 Hubs - New Wheel Build Help

I'm building up a set of wheels with some Mavic 550 front and rear hubs that have never been laced before. This is my first wheel build so I'm very much in the learning stage of things and I apologize if this is an extraordinarily dumb question. I have noticed that the rear hub has directional flange holes in that they are beveled on alternating sides so that the spoke elbow fits into the bevel for both the trailing and leading spokes, however, the front has no alternating pattern, instead, the bevel is the same for all holes. I still intend to use a three cross pattern on the front hub but I'm curious as to why this would be. Does anyone happen to know if the 550 front hubs were intended to use a radial spoke pattern or some other pattern?

Also, if anyone happens to be interested in selling a Mavic 670 tool (for removing the dustcaps over the cartridge bearings) I am actively seeking one.

Thank you.
