How often do you ride each week?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

How often do you ride each week?

I curious how often most people ride in an average week. Here it is 8:00 PM and I haven't gone out yet and I'm feeling guilty about missing an evening ride (but I have got out 5 of the last 6 days). What about the rest of you? Do most of you religiously get out for, say a least an hour every day? ...and still lead a normal life, work 9-5, M-F, help with the kid's homework, feed the dog, cut the lawn, etc.

Depends on the time of year and real-life happenings. I shoot for six days a week but am usually satisfied with five (or seven!), especially if the mileage is there. Only four in mid-seasoin and I am a bit disappointed. Less than that and, well, something more important is going on anyway so I can't worry about it.

Five days a week (not counting commuting), around 11-14 hours a week.

I do 85 miles a week at an absolute minimum. Then again, I commute 5 days a week, and it's 8.5 miles each way!

I usually do another 50 or so on top of that... I can easily get between 15-25 miles a week in various errands, more if I have time to go out on an actual ride on the weekends. Last week I think I did about 150 miles. I went out Sunday afternoon, intending to do a very short ride to just stretch my legs a bit... 45 miles, and two emergency bike assists later (me assisting others with their bikes) I rolled back up to my apartment.

I'm coming off a knee injury, only been back on the bike for about 2 months, after more than 6 months of no riding at all. I hope to get in a lot more miles by the end of summer, maybe some touring!

I try to ride every night for 45 minutes to an hour, weather permitting.
I'm not a big fan of riding in the rain.

Usually 6, unless I'm really in need of additional rest. This week is gonna be a 5'er, given some late night sessions at the Vancouver Intl Jazz Festival. Last night was a 45 km hammerfest followed by the Kjetil Moster Trio, which kept me up til 2:00 a.m. Today, no riding, bit of climbing after work, tomorrow is day off DEATHRIDE!!!! ARRRRGGHHHHHHH!!!!!! ....Well, long and varied hard and fast ride with lots of hills, at any rate. Still trying to avoid death...

Commuting every day ensures that I get at least base milage in. If I don't count commuting, I probably ride four days/week.

I ride everyday, sometimes I have two workouts scheduled in the day. Sometimes I'll have an AM workout on the track (velodrome) and a PM workout on the road. During this time of year I typically log anywhere from 200-250 miles per week. BUT, I head of to nationals this Monday! I'm excited, yet quite nervous..

Well, I ride everyday from home to the office, but that is not even a mile one way, so I suppose that deosn't count...

But riding as in going out and doing miles, about twice a week. Sometimes it's more, but I don't have as much time for it as I'd like.

4 Group/team Rides a week + 2-3 Friend/solo rides. Used to ride 6 miles out to summer school also but I just recieved the car back. Even though I burn up gas alot. My busiest days are like yesterday, Get up at 5:30 for summer school, leave at 10 for a 'doc appointment at 10:30, leave at 11:45 and head straight to work at 1 (far away), leave work at 5 to go to a bike race that is also out in the middle of no where at 6:30, leave at 8:00 to go bike riding with some friends, get home at midnight. What keeps me going? Diet Pepsi.

Once a week. Twice on a good week.

Too much work, not enough play.

With luck I'll get rides in on Sunday AND Tuesday this week

Lately I've been trying to go for a number of hours, rather than a number of days per week. But it usually ends up being around 5 days anyway, for 12-15 hours of riding. Sometimes more, but minimum 10 hrs.

Depends on the time of year and what else I have going on. This past semester I was busy with classes and working part-time so I only rode 3 days a week for 2.5-3 hours per ride. Now that summer is here and I am unfortunantely unemployed I was hoping to ride 4-5 days a week. Haven't ridden this week and I don't know when I'll get riding again as I'm letting some chaffing heal and I'm waiting on a narrower Brooks saddle. Most of my summer may be shot if I need surgery to remove a small bump in my navel (it's not a hernia) depending on what the doc tells me when I go again next week.

I love riding in the rain. The bridge last night around 7 pm was awesome. No tourists. Just me and a jogger who took her jogging seriously!

What a rush. Lightning hitting the Watchtower Building -- wet to the bone. Granted, the shoes were squishy this morning but...

I commute so 12-20 miles 2x/day (If I get in early I spend some time on the hills in Harlem and/or get in some extra miles.)

On the weekend I try and get in at least one long ride. (One wife, two kids, 110 year old home... riding can get lost.)

Five or six times a week, ten hours if I am really lucky, eight is probably average. I too have work, kids, home and sleep vying for my time.

Pretty much every day. I commute 5 days a week, year-round, but it's only a 9 mile roundtrip. Still that's 45 "free" miles a week. I try to get in a few training rides each week before the kids get up, and I go on a 50ish mile group ride most Saturdays if I'm not racing or working. And then a family ride on Sunday.
