Road bike recomendations
Alright so I finally have a job and am able to save up for a new bike. Iv'e decided that I want to buy a road bike and that I am gonna allow myself a budget of around 600$. I'm a 270 lb clyde that is about 5'7". What kind of road bike should I get? What spoke count should I look into? and should I look into purchasing a bike online? If so where should I look? I have an LBS but it is small and there selection is very limited.

Have you thought of a used bike?
You may get a lot more value than new in your price range.
Otherwise, I'm not tuned in on road bikes.

$600 should treat you better in the used marked. I'd look at reviews or specs on wheels. There are various factors that go into a wheel capacity, not just spoke count.

Like the others, I'd recommend used. A standard 32- or 36-spoke wheel should be fine if it's well built (you can have a mechanic retension a machine-built wheel). I imagine that Charlotte or Spartanburg has a bike co-op or a store that refurbishes used bikes for college students. A little searching turned up Lucky Cycles in Greenville, SC. You might also check out the Re-Cyclery, which sounds hit or miss, but you might luck out.

I'd find a classic roadie and save for a wheelset. Say schwinn paramount or circuit in a 52 or 54cm

I agree on used. I got a used Allez with full ultegra for $700 when I got my first road bike. That was a few years and bikes ago, I was still well over 300...but the wheels were so good, I still have them as spares. 32 spoke Mavic Reflex with Shimano 600 hubs.
