Finally got the 2014 Trek Out... UPDATE ..Trek no more
I was able to skip church this morning and get a few miles in. I did 20.3 to be exact. This bike rides great. Its quiet, shifts great with the Claris group, and the Q factor seem wider than my old bike. I really enjoyed the ride. Look forward to another later today.

Heck yea son. Cool looking' bike. I'm partial to the red and white as my Spec bike has the same colors. Claris is a good group to start with. Enjoy and may you put many happy miles on her

I wanted to try the Claris. This is the 10th bike in the stable so figured I would try a new group. After all I may be one of the few who love the 2300 group.

So after a week with the Trek out on the road, the bike had been to the LBS 4 times for repairs. It would randomly start auto shifting. Mainly on the hills, but still not acceptable. The bike shop was replacing the rear derailur hanger. I suspect there was some flex in the frame. They suggested that they refund my money. I liked the ride, but not the problems. So I now have no trek road bike.

That just sounds weird. Try another 1.1 and see if it is just that bike. I would say also see about trading up to the 1.2. I believe that is Tiarga equipped. See if that will do the trick. If no soap I'd suggest looking at a Specialized Allez. They are similarly priced and specd machines. I like the way the Allez rides BTW. Never rode a 1 series Trek.

I have a Specture, which I like. Thats why I also got the Trek. I Purchased a Fuji Sportif 1.3 last night so maybe I can get it out after church.

Sorry to hear about the Trek not performing. I know the 2013 1 series bikes had 300 pound "recommended" weight limit, the carbon bikes were 275. I wonder if the new frames might have a different upper limit?

I would have to believe that either the shop wasn't up to par with adjustments or maybe the cable was defective? I had this happen to my Scott Scale mtb when I first got it, felt good at the store but started having phantom shifts on my first ride. Went back and had the rear derailleur adjusted only to have it happen again. Come to find out the cable was defective, put a new one on and good to go. I believe the weight specs are the same for 2014 but Trek now fits all 1 series bikes with a carbon fork.

I like the idea of trading up. If you already have 10 bikes in the stable, then get yourself a real stud.

I've only done 2-5 mile rides so far on my 14 Madone 2.1, but I've yet to experience anything but buttery smooth shifting with the 105's. The LBS I went to seemed to really recommend the 105's as the lowest they prefer to sell, could be bs, but at 250 - 245 lbs the bike has been great so far.
