Let's say, *theoretically*, that your spouse demanded you get rid of one of your bikes. I've narrowed it down to these two, both of which I use as commuters. Which should I keep, and why? Both are all as originally spec'd, (minus consumables)

Just kidding, sorry I cant offer more. I don't know what type of riding you do is it only commuting? I would base my recommendation on that ...link provies not information on the MBV SE.

Right. Will just be used as a commuter, slicks on both right now. I *think* I fixed the link the BVSE

I probably wouldn't tell her anything quite that harsh ---- but I moderately agree-- these are 2 20+ y/o machines that don't require daily feedings and maintenance demands are fairly small.
If you had put 2 new Colnagos on the family credit card, I could almost understand her wanting you to pick one - but not for this

Is it just me, or can nobody else see images on the BikePedia site? 'Cause I need visuals in order to make my 2 penny-opinion worth it
Also, except for the wording, I agree with @RFC. If you've got a ton of bikes, letting one go wouldn't even make a dent. If you've only got a couple, well, what the hell? Good luck in your decision

Thanks everybody. I don't really mind getting rid of one. I just didn't want to get rid one that was significantly more interesting, rare, sweeter riding, etc. The sort of thing where BF would say "you sold WHAT and kept WHAT?"

In my experience, the farther back in time you go on Bikepedia the less likely you are to see any reliable pictures. I had to look at old european catalog scans to confirm the years on both of the bikes I'm talking about.

Thanks. This leans me heavily towards keeping the Bianchi. I'm not sure why (maybe because I started on road bikes) but I still feel funny riding on 26" wheels.

I would keep the Bainchi. I like 700c over 26" and the Project bikes are similar to what is now 29'ers.

I had a Bear Valley as my only bike for several years, then I relapsed into C&V. It was a good bike, I would keep that one.

I don't deliberately have a "collection" but we have a total of 6 adult single-seat bikes, a tandem, a trailer, and a Strider. Several of these are obviously redundant.
I doubt I could talk my wife out of her two bikes; she's too attached to the one that doesn't fit so she also needs to keep the one that does.
We don't use the tandem much, but we like the idea of it too well, and in a year it may grow a kidback.
I wouldn't be opposed to a "quiver killer" that would replace, say, my commuter and my MTB and my kid-seat-bike, perhaps with the help of a wheel swap. In my imagination this is a 27.5+ hardtail MTB, plus a set of 29er wheels and slicks.

If I switched to panniers instead of a rear basket on my daily commuter I guess I could condense my around-the-neighborhood-kid-hauler with the daily commuter. Right now the basket gets in the the way of the mount for the ride-along, "necessitating" two bikes. the mount is also a pain to move (4 long, fully threaded bolts).

Is it bad that I'm keeping a sacrificial bike, just in case the GF requests that I get rid of one? We moved from a 2700 sq ft house and 600 sq ft apartment to an 1100 sq ft condo, and the garage took the overflow. As we clear out the backlog, she's started hinting that the garage would be nice as a garage in the winter, and a sitting area in the summer. I've thought of donating least favorite bike to the coop several times, but keep it around in case I buy another or need a bargaining chip.

I would keep the Bianchi. The off road performance is likely to equal the Marin but the 700c wheels make it more versatile
