If you're a speedplay rider already, the thought of a PM pedal compatible is tempting (if it's priced competitively) but overall yes... already tons of options out there, for the most part if you wanted a pedal based PM system, you've already moved from Speedplay... or you have a different type of PM. It's an interesting buy though, Speedplay has always been a unicorn of sorts holding out against much bigger companies trying to buy them.

Wow. I wonder what happened.

I recall the preface of the website when it first launched stating something to the effect that the website being a place to keep notes and whatnot for an upcoming Track Sprinting book.

The main URL of the site was: https://upupup.aboc.com.au/the-book

I did think it was weird to give away the "milk" then try to sell the "cow" later, but I didn't question it. I really enjoyed the content.

I hope it's a temporary thing, like the credit card used to pay the domain fees expired and wasn't updated (this happens more often than you think)

Yup.

And he has the credentials to back it up:

Dean combines his mechanical engineering background with real world testing, training, and competition in cycling and triathlon. Dean’s comprehensive approach to rider positioning and product selection has benefited countless road cyclists and triathletes at all levels. Regarded as a leading industry authority in aerodynamics and bike positioning, he spends hundreds of hours each year field testing and analyzing the aerodynamic and mechanical properties of body positions and cycling equipment. Due to a running injury, Dean changed his focus from triathlon and started doing hill climbs (even though he is 6’3″) and racing bikes in 2011. In recent years, he started racing on the track as well. He has done quite well racing for Team Fit Werx and holds multiple National and World Championship titles on the track and in TT.

Experience:

SICI Certified Advanced Fit Technician, performs 300 bike fittings annually.
Category 1 Road Racer
Masters World Champion – Pursuit
Two discipline AG National Champion (TT and Pursuit)
Father of four.

Bachelor of Science, Mechanical Engineering, United States Naval Academy.

A few of Dean’s notable results:

2016 – Masters World 3K Pursuit Champion. 40-44.
2016 – Masters 3K Team Pursuit – Silver.
2016 – National Team Pursuit Champion (record time). Masters 35.

New Dura Ace track cranks? Or road cranks set up with custom chainrings?

yeah it's a road crank, you can see the adapter bolts in the action shot. Probably custom rings in the other.

^ It does look like a 900, but with a different hub design? (Thru axle?)
What's more interesting is the fork. If you look very close it's not the same as the following rider's.

Does this mean we're back to thinking narrow fork to wheel is better than big gap It seems to rotate each Olympic cycle

Well, we've heard Zipp say they were working with Argon on new options. That may be it. As you said, it definitely looks like a Thru Axle and the fork blades look almost like they are touching that front disc.

It's very similar to what Felt and Hed did with the Super FRD frame. The front hub is narrower than standard, so you have to use the supplied Hed wheels. It also appears to run a TA.

I wonder if Argon altered the frame geometry to make it more sprint friendly or just the fork?

Looks like they are using an adapter for the chainring.

I never knew anyone made anything like this...
