Cannondale Black Lightning - $350 (Fort Collins)

Link

Ad copy:
1987 Cannondale SR800 "Black Lightning"
56cm
All original with rare Black and Gold Suntour Sprint indexed components.
A little bit of anodizing wear on the crank arms, and a few paint chips here and there.
Everything operates like it has very low miles on it. Probably the nicest example of a 33 year old Cannondale you will find anywhere.

Looks to be one of the good years, with the mighty-fine Suntour Sprint group, with quite a bit of wear from use, but clean.

Not my size.

1992 Bridgestone RB-1 53cm - $600

Beautiful 1992 Bridgestone RB-1 for sale. I’ve owned and maintained this bike for 7 years. Frame has no rust and minimal paint wear. All parts are original except the chain, cassette, stem, bar tape, seat, seatpost, tires, pedals and rear rim. The rear wheel was rebuilt last year.

This bike rides like a dream. The RB-1 is a true classic. I hate to let it go but I’m trying to thin out my bike collection.

Details:

53cm c-t 54tt
Ishiwata tubing
Original Shimano 600 group set.
Shimano 7 speed 2x7 bar end shifters.
12-28 Shimano 7 speed cassette.
53 40 Shimano chainrings.
172.5 crank length.
Dia Compe brake calipers
Dia Compe brs300 brake levers
Nitto 165 handlebars 42cm
Fizik bar tape.
3ttt stem 110mm.
MKS road pedals.
Ritchy Vantage front rim 32 hole.
Mavic Open Pro rear rim 32 hole.
Continental Grand Prix 4000 tires 23mm.
Specialized seat.

'87 was the best year of Cannondales in my opinion...no cantilever dropout, filing and finishing was superb. Tange mangalloy forks made the filling-rattling ride a little more forgiving.

It is much cleared to me that three sets of stays behind the seat tube would define the Mixte.
Much easier to search for instead of "Sport sport"
He clearly states "A lady's type bike that lacks the middle pair of stays is not a mixte" and shows a correct Raleigh Super Course frame as an example with the two separate stays running all the way from the headtube to the rear dropouts.

Many/most references to mixte's call them women's bike as well, this is also incorrect as "mixte" literally translates to universal, unisex for any and all. Many companies only offered the one style as a utility bike.

I posted another one a page or three back. Unusual to find two so closely back to back. Yours is a bit better priced, but the one I posted was complete and mostly original IIRC.

And on the Frenchie note, I've been eyeballing this, had deja vu when I first saw it but can't quite put my finger on why, maybe it was already listed in the past. Either way, it's pretty nice. It's totally my size but unless some freaking amazing human being is buying it for me, it ain't gonna land in my stable. Someone should buy it though!!

$499? Man, yeah someone should jump on that.

Late '70s Maruishi Emperor touring bike with custom racks and luggage. This is unique, and a bargain at the asking price of $750 (SF Bay Area craigslist). Check out the stainless steel flask with custom holder, among many cool aspects of this bike. If it was my size I'd be on this in a flash. Sadly, it's way too small for me.

Beautiful Maruishi touring bike

And I'll take the opportunity to say here what I did not say there; "Sport" is a pretty lame label for this style, practically begging for a Who's On First exchange when discussing it:
"It's a Paris-Sport Sport."
"Sport sport?"
"Yes."
"No."
So, step through is safe terminology?

Safe, I suppose, but useless. It doesn't distinguish the design from a generic step-through frame with a "top" tube that simply terminates at the seat tube, with nothing aft of it (traditionally referred to as a "women's" frame).

Nothing real special, looks like an '87 World Sport, but it looks very fresh and it's stoopid cheap. My size, but not really on my radar.

Seller also has a Magna for the same price.

I don't know the make. But... It'd be better if the chain was on the chainring and cog and if the front wheel skewer wasn't facing directly forward. MAkes me wonder what else might be hidden that's not good. And the bend in those brake cables! I wonder if the brakes work at all or hown much braking it has.

Cheers
