You see? This is what I was talking about when I said that people perceive filtering cyclists as cheating. Late mergers aren't "racing to the front", it just seems that way because you got into the slower lane. And why is it "battling" their way into the lane? Am I "battling" my way into a full lane when I merge from an on-ramp? Is it "battling" when I merge into adjacent full lane to prepare for an exit? It's merging, not combat; you're using emotional language to vilify something that you don't agree with.
GriddleCakes,
I think you misunderstood what I was saying. I apologize if I wasn't clear. I am on your side. I've read a little on it years ago and so do not have the current grasp as you. There is one merge in my regular life where people do "battle". 2 lanes go into 1 and then into a tunnel. No right shoulder, right lane is the one that ends. Are numerous occasions I have been motoring along in the left lane when someone decides to merge late, literally trying to merge into the spot I am occupying in the left lane. I've been forced to brake hard and even move into the oncoming lane by people doing this. When I used to go that way regularly it was a common thing for people to try this. Pushing me out of my lane or making me brake quickly instead of merging earlier behind me is "battling" in my book.
It may be a road design issue at that particular area, I am not sure.

What's with the negative attitude? I don't think I've seen you add anything positive in your last posts. It seems as if you've always gotta find fault with something that someone has posted, why is that?
