Though I have quite a few rare bikes, some of them flashy, It's this Pedersen that gets the most comments, questions and head-swivels.
And at the races, an agitated minority seems to coalesce who make some good noise, shouting of the "Yellow Bike" or "Flying Machine".

I only have three bikes now, one of which is my commuter and the other a pretty standard Surly LHT that I just occasionally use for groceries. The only bike I own that ever gets any real attention is my Univega, which I've posted on this board about a million times.
I rode it to work last Friday and my coworkers made quite a few positive comments, which was cool. Where I used to live my coworkers thought all of my bikes were just silly.

Though the bike requires more energy to go fast, and so hence usually offers me a bit lower performance than contemporary bikes, it would still be fun to race on, even if it looked normal. To me, it feels more like a motorcycle, so a CX race feels more like a motocross race and I always try for a holeshot start.
The vintage look combined with brand-newness is also eye-catching.
That Univega looks stunningly brand-new, reminds me of a new-looking Myata 210 tourer I bought that sometimes attracts attention even from non-cyclists even though it's a subtle gold pearl.

Believe it or not, arriving near the end of the day, two teens staffing the bike corral at the NYC 5 boro pre ride bike show saw my ride and both agreed that "I'd want that one!" after attending to thousands of much more modern and higher dollar rides all day. That's a high compliment for my Trek Multitrack 700, originally a $25 find.

These are the aluminum versions. The 8000 has the splatter paint job that just looks cool. I'm the original owner on that one. The 7000 was an eBay special.
And I also put mine in the bike corral at the 5BBT pre-ride/ticket pickup.

This bike tends to become the focus at rest stops and once in a while someone will turn around and come back to ask what it is. It's old, has no paint and does not appear to be welded.

This is my current go to bike. Sunday mornings I am out the door early in search of a good group to latch on to. I have several group rides to choose from, the northern burbs of Chicago get overrun with cyclists on Sunday morning. And of late, as in last Sunday, the police are cracking down on bad behavior by cyclists. The group i was with got stopped for rolling thru a red light.
Anyway, I'm the geezer on the funny old bike. Comments I get a lot are;
"How old is that bike?" and "What does that thing weigh?"
There are a few, very few, oldsters that recognize the Frejus name. So I get the "Nice bike" comment as they roll by. Most I think just see it as an old steel bike.
In talking to many of the guys out on these speed demon rides, most have only been riding for at most 5-10 years. A lot have just picked up cycling in the past couple years. I was surprised when a few guys didn't know what lugs were on a bike. So any kind of understanding of my Frejus is limited.
