Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Aero bike set up

If you have your aero road bike set up like this, you did not need an aero road bike.

Why not?
They will still get some aero gains.
Also, even with that huge stack you could still get quite low on the drops and elbows at 90 degrees.

This is pretty amusing, but I only clicked on this thread because I'm thinking of getting some clip-on bars for the Propel, so I can give time trials a shot.... Any recommendations?

Yeah, kinda funny - spending $10,000 to get aero... when leaning over a bit would've been more effective.

I get that we fight wind/air more than gravity - and that it's exponentially more important as speed increases. But, I've got to assume 90% of the drag is caused by the rider... not the bike.

Cycling, like golf and photography is as much a gear addiction to many as is the purpose behind the gear.

Whoever said it's about "need"? IIRC the age of a typical Bugatti owner is 59, with a car collection of 80+ cars. IOW, certainly not at their peak of physical or mental abilities to handle such a car, but that was never the point.

This......and of course opinions on how others decide to spend their money.

Maybe the rider of the grey venge in the op's pic is recovering from a back injury? Who cares what someone else decides to do to their ride?
