OK...My "Real" commute. This is the route I take on a regular day without errands or the desire to add miles for fun. Uploaded at regular speed, just click along the time line when you get bored with a section. The time stamps below should help. If you watch the video on VIMEO.com the time stamps become live clickable links.
I had to pick an overcast day for filming as I commute DIRECTLY into the sun every clear day. Sorry if some footage is a bit dark because of this.
https://vimeo.com/61324702
00:00 - City Park 2 blocks from my house.
02:00 - Carrollton Avenue to Bayou St. John on Moss Street.
03:44 - DeSoto Street.
07:05 - Bayou Road is all brick surface.
08:00 - Governor Nicholls.
11:40 - Enter the French Quarter on Governor Nicholls.
12:36 - Bourbon Street.
13:01 - Esplanade Avenue where it is smooth!
13:30 - Chartres Street.
14:00 - Frenchmen Street.

You post it, I'll watch it.
Great network of trails. I actually biked down the Potomac to DC, then the Arlington trail all the way east/south to the end. I actually recognized some of it after 20 years. I was returning home from Maine to New Orleans on about my 5th month of a long bike tour. I stayed in DC in a high-rise hostel that used to be a big Holiday Inn motel (so I heard). That was a real experience in itself.
Nice job. Good tunes. Passed a few roadies. What a great commute.

Camera is now run on my bars as a "flight recorder" anytime I ride. If nothing happens I just format the drive (32 gig card) and recharge the battery at days end without even looking at the footage. If someone "disrespects" me on the road or does something else stupid, then I clip it and store it in a folder called Disrespected - feature videos to be compiled when I get 60 seconds of mayhem.
Battery is good for about 4 hours and the card will hold 12 hours of video at my setting, so I don't really have to mess with it every day. I rarely wear it on my helmet anymore. Only for events where looking around might be interesting.

I'll take that as a binding contract. And like you - I'll watch any videos that are posted -though I'll FF/jump ahead through the full length, real-time ones ;-)
It really is a great ride. I figure as long as I'm passing as many folks as pass me, I'm doing okay. My one frustration is when I'm reeling in a roadie, and then they turn off before I catch them. I'm pretty out of shape for longer riding -- I've mostly been confined to distances under 5 miles since September due to parental obligations.
Interestingly, my first bicycling memories come from New Orleans. My dad was in grad school at Tulane after his time in Vietnam, and we got around primarily by bike (and the trolley). I was just a passenger most of the time, but I got my first two wheeler during that time, too.
Be sure to wave hello if you come into DC again ;-)

For you real-time lovers, this is a short, nighttime ride, so I didn't speed it up. It isn't technically a commute, as I was just running out for some grocery items, but I thought it remained 'in the spirit' of the thread.
Yeah, it's probably as boring as it sounds.

Burnaby to Vancouver, in the PM.
Mostly MUPs, or bike paths. Awesome commute.
sped up 8x
2:20, I get under the Skytrain (elevated rail) track and stay under it for quite a while.
2:37 nobody wants to pass the girl, so we get backed up, 4 bikes deep going 14km/hr
3:09 I avoid a left hook
4:12 The East Van cross with the north shore mountains in the background. (clark at Great Northern Way)
5:43 I'm passing a skateboard on his left, but he keeps drifting left.

wow super nice commute timvan Gotta love the old school Offspring. I still have that CD, remember watching the music video on MTV, too. So if it's 8x then your commute is about 52 minutes? Looked like some gravel sections in there, are you using some type of XC bike?

Nice Tim - I once lived in Burnaby but I still get lost in that place
I couldn't tell where you were until Great Northern Way.

Yeah, love the commute, and that isn't even the scenic route (seawall/False Creek/Olympic Village). I'll do a vid of that sometime. Same distance but slightly slower (more pedestrians).
I think I changed it to 7x speed because 8x was just too frantic looking. I usually takes about 50-60 mins depending on wind. (17 kms)
Road bike (kona zing) but the gravel is pretty 'tracked out' by commuters, leaving 2 strips of bare, hard earth. Still gets gritty in the wet. (It rains here a lot.)

Man, that's a lot of cars to split past!
I used to spend three months each year in Santa Monica on Navy Street just a few blocks from Venice and one mile from the beach. I love that place, but I did not have to commute across town like that. The L.A. area does have it's cycling challenges but you seem to have it under control. Nice vid.

Riding it through WeHo and into Hollywood looks insane. I've ridden my moto through there during rush hour, but a pedal bike seems nuts.

Yep - that's the Metropolitan Branch Trail which I pick up close to Brookland, and ride to M St. NE near the NoMA/ New York Ave/Florida Ave metro stop.

wow man nice vid! How did you mount the camera? Looks like it's rock solid, surprised at how little vibration transmitted through to the video.

Thank you Patrick. I'm using the Contour Roam bicycle mount. I tried making a homemade mount but just felt better spending the money on the Contour one. I think having the video sped up 400% helps with hiding some of the jitters.

It's just some stock royalty free stuff from a library I bought. Didn't want Vimeo to kick me off for using copyrighted music without permission.
