[SOLVED] Clicking/creak on a Shimano crank (FC-TY301) when left pedaling hard

All of a sudden, weeks ago, I got this annoying click/tick/creak (whatever) when applying force to the left pedal, always in the same exact position. "Oh noes, something is broken! Let's search the Web."

Long story short: after replacing the left pedal, removing the whole crank and the bottom bracket (and even checking the rear wheel), cleaning, lubing, and tightening everything properly... I realized the clicking was caused by plastic in the crank spider (I only had removed dust caps). The noise can be reproduced by pressuring the plastic with a single finger. The plastic seems removable.

In conclusion, and since I didn't find anything about this on the Web, I do hope this post helps someone!

there is one on Ebay right now.. the plastic beauty cover has been removed ... this cover is held on by 4 screws from the backside of the large Chainring... there's a chance it's held on by press in plastic expanding split-studs.through the large chainring...

This phenomenon can also be caused by BB cartridge (or other components) and/or the keeper working slightly loose. One of mine was doing it a few weeks ago. Just a slight tightening and the clicking/creaking is resolved.
