1973 Raleigh International -$800

https://cincinnati.craigslist.org/bi...204656786.html

1973 Raleigh International, 1 Owner! Nice, mostly original - Campy!! - $799 (Liberty Township)

"Here's my 1973 Raleigh International that I purchased new in October 1974 at the age of 15. The champagne colored frame is size 23.5" and made from Reynolds 531 double-butted tubing. It has always been stored indoors. It's in good shape given the age but has not been ridden since 1989. It has mostly original parts except for the wheels/tires, freewheel and chain, including the ORIGINAL Brooks Professional saddle in nice shape! This bike was my pride and joy and is an unrestored survivor!! You'll get the original bill of sale and the warranty card, which I never did send back to Raleigh.

The International was Raleigh's second-from-the-top model back then, next to the Professional. It represents what classic pro racing bikes looked like in the 50's, 60's and early 70's before racing bikes went to steep angles, side-pull brakes, short wheelbases and limited tire clearance (like the "new" Raleigh Professional at the time). The bike had a full Campagnolo gruppo, except for the Weinmann 999 center-pull brakes, including the Nuovo Record rear derailleur, Record front derailleur, Record hubs and Record crankset/chainrings/bottom bracket. Other Campy parts included the headset, seatpost, shifters, pedals, front/rear dropouts, derailleur cable guide and pump clip. The only original Campy parts not present are the 36-hole Record high-flange hubs which were replaced in the 1970's with Record low-flange hubs to build 32-spoke wheels.

The 1973 model of the Raleigh International is particularly collectible because the chromed Capella lugs were a one-year only spec! The model years before and after had Nervex lugs. The stem pictured is a TTT I added in the 70's, but I have and will include the original GB stem. As mentioned, the wheels are not original to the bike, but are built around 70's Campagnolo Record low-flange hubs, which were again re-laced in the 80's with Mavic GP4 tubular rims. The original Carlton pump is long gone as are the original Carlton brake hoods. I will throw in an extra set of Weinmann levers featuring the same style Carlton hoods. The "gum" Weinmann brake hoods on the bike now have deteriorated with age. I've got a new 14-24 5-speed freewheel to include to replace the 80's 6-speed Suntour that's on there now so you can put it back to being a " classic 10-speed." I'll include some new brake pads that look a lot like the original ones to replace the 80's vintage Shimano pads that are on there now. Finally, I will include a Campagnolo #771 14/11mm saddle spanner for adjusting the Campy seatpost and the tension on the Brooks saddle. These vintage wrenches are hard to find now and often bring $50-$100+ on eBay!!

Since the bike has not been ridden in 30 years, you will need to glue up some new tubular "sew-up" tires (the old tires are holding air, but don't risk it!) and re-grease the bearings for the headset, crankset and hubs. New bar tape and cables would be a good idea, as well as some general lubrication. I checked to verify the seatpost adjusts freely in the frame and stem is not frozen in the fork. This bike can be ridden with just that small amount of work or would be an easy restore because of the condition of the frame, components and paint - a little chrome polish, aluminum polish and some wax would go a long way (and maybe new Reynolds 531 decals for the fork)!

If you have questions or would like to see the bike, you may e-mail at any time, but please limit your texts and calls from 8am until 9pm. Terms are cash and carry. Thanks for looking!!"

Oh, never mind... he says it's sold. Missed it by that much!

.
A "nice one" got away...too bad...but for consolation: you'd have had to ditch those Weinmann "convex" rims (at some point).

I thought there was something fishy about this but I figured it out. The frame/fork appears to be an ‘89 Mondiale but with strange decals.

$500 for an SLX Bianchi with SRAM and other stuff, nice looking Brooks. https://pullman.craigslist.org/bik/d...204798118.html

Found this thread with catalog scans. https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-v...og-please.html Seller claims 60cm, but the catalog lists 59 and 61. Does this look like a 59 or 61 to you all?

61. I have two Bianchi that are factory labled 61cm but that's c-t and they measure more like 59.5 c-c

Seller has a point about $65 in parts here, though not sure it's the Dia Compe brakes or levers but the barcons might have value.

Fascinating, I am not seeing any attempt on converting these to a regular crankset. Probably too labor intensive or not even possible, however the frame does have some interesting geometry.

Solid price on a big Windsor Pro in nice shape cosmetically

..in Davis. If you're in Sacramento or the bay area, this is not a bit drive. I know nothing about the charity selling it.

Windsor Professional 63 cm - $475 (Davis)

Sadly, it's priced low enough that someone might just part it out. Which would be a shame.

the overall quality of the bike may not be worth the effort.
