The Uber Bike! How Much would you spend

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Having just come from being a pro the horse industry, where a young 4 year old warmblood prospect from Europe will cost you 75-100K, I no longer suffer from sticker shock of any kind.

No way. I don't need something at that level. Even if I won $350 million in the powerball lottery, $13k is a supercharged jet ski!

$2k is plenty for a bike. Through a combination of luck and careful shopping I got a really nice bike that will suit my needs for many many years to come. For under $1.5k - even with taxes and stuff.

It's not a whole lot more than bikes a lot of people own here. Take a high end CF frame, add DA/Red/Campy Super Record, Zipp or comparable wheels and you are up to $8-9K with regular pedals/bar/stem/saddle.

I would never spend more than I would actually need and I don't think I would EVER need something of that caliber.

I'd spend that much if I could afford to, but not on that particular bike. I already have a Colnago. Don't feel a need for another.

You guys have no understanding of too much money. If someone wants a bike like that, that person buys it. Cost is something that does not even come into the picture [and neither does need]. I want it, I'll have it.

How much does it weigh? How stiff is it? How does it ride? Way too many unanswered questions. It's got a good name, that's about all that's certain. Far too much for my blood, but like Butcher says, for some price is not an objection. It all comes down to perceived value. If you want it and can afford it, you will have it.

Yes but not that one. Looks like something my daughters cat hucked up yesterday.

Agreed, for $13K it should have a power meter, SR11 and carbon wheels.

I'd rather have two bikes... like a Tarmac for shorter rides and a Roubaix for longer ones.

Even if money weren't an issue, I probably wouldn't spend that much money on a bike. If I had a $10,000 bike I'd better be fast or else I would just look like a rich poseur.

I agree, not on that one. I have always been partial to the Prince/Dogma, I just think that is a beautiful bike. But I don't think I could ever justify the purchase.

No, Too many other cool things could be done with the money. No one who is worth impressing would care how much you spent for that bike which probably has all of $2200.00 in mfg parts on it. I know what a Colnago is but I would say under my breath this guy just made some LBS very happy. (The guys in the shop all high 5ng as he leaves) A fool and his money are soon parted.

You assume too much. I can EASILY see myself dumping a million on a boat. If I had a million to blow on a boat, and $8k to blow every time I needed fuel. I would order a Leopard 37 - or even the Leopard 47 power catamaran without even thinking.

if I had the money. Which I don't. But give me the money to own such a thing - and the money to run / maintain it - and Ill have it by the end of the year.

But no matter how much money I ever encounter, I just do not see myself spending over $10k on a bicycle. Heck, even at $3k I would just feel wrong.

After all, I could live comfortably on my 47 foot long, 24 foot wide floating apartment. And go almost anywhere in the world I want to go.

I don't get what that bike has that makes it $13k. Is that CF frame indestructible or something? Why are Colnago so damn overpriced?

$2,000 is already twice the price I'm willing to pay for a bike.
