Help With Paramount Rear Wheel Replacement

I've just picked up a '74 Paramount 13-9. It HAD full Campagnolo until the PO replaced the rear cassette with one better suited for hills and left the original Campy rear wheel assembly at the bike shop. When he went back to recover it, needless to say it was gone.

The bike has the original Campy Nuevo Record FD, RD and, of course, front wheel hub.

I'd like to find a replacement. Can anyone left me know the best path forward?

Can I start by finding a Record hub and then go after the freewheel/ cassette and have a shop lace it up (I've not tried it, with the exception of replacing few spokes from time to time) or is it best to go after a complete built rear wheel?

Finally, aside from scouring eBay, does anyone have a source?

Thanks!

put out a WTB in the C&V for sale section as a starter. What is front hub and rim? Do you want the rim to match?

Vintage wheels also show up on Craigslist from time to time. Just have a little patience.

You could hunt down a wheelset, then dump the original front wheel. Or, buy a hub, 2 sets of new spokes, 2 rims to build up a matching set.

The front hub is Campagnolo Record. It has a black band around the center of the hub that circles the center of the hub and stops at "Campagnolo" and ends just underneath "Record."

Both rims are Weinmann aluminum. The rear has an M19 sticker on it. Nothing on the front rim except Weinmann stamped into the aluminum.

I'm OK with the rims/wheels but I'm new to wheel building. Not sure if I could find a Record hub and go from there.

You shouldn't have any trouble finding those hubs on eBay (or craigslist in a major metropolitan area). If you're looking for a sewup wheel you can probably pick up the whole wheel pretty cheaply, though it may be abused. If you need to build your own wheel it's not too difficult if you're detail oriented and you carefully read the instructional guides available on the internets. I built my first set ever two years ago and it's still perfectly round. That would require you building, buying or borrowing a truing stand though.

Note that the original rear wheel would be a 5-speed freewheel hub of 120mm length, not a cassette hub.

Is your front rim concave?

I'd take the opportunity to make/get a stealth-modern wheelset, with ENE Ciclo high flange hubs and tubeless-ready rims like maybe Pacenti PL23's or Velocity A23's

Edit: hey, Pacenti's website expired. I wonder what's up

I'd like to keep it close to stock. While I plan on riding it, I only do 15-20 miles per outing. Don't need the modern efficiency.
