Carbon Fiber Fork Blemish/tiny dent
Hey guys,
New to this forum and biking in general. I recently bought a Poseidon x gravel bike and its been great to ride however I noticed these 1-2 tiny dimples/pinholes(not really sure what to call them) and began to worry about the integrity of the fork. I emailed the owner with these pics and he said It just appears to be a paint blemish and I pretty much agree. However I wanted to get some other opinions being as im new to the sport. I did as much research as I could on the internet but couldn't find too many examples of this.
I would post the pictures which give a clear representation, but I have to wait to make ten posts in order to do that.
best,
Panos

No way to know for sure until you post photos but many fork blades have very small vent holes, generally close to the dropouts. If they are the same and symmetrical on both sides you've got your answer. Well, you should have your answer.

Unfortunately I don't have a way of posting pictures yet, though I do have some. I can't post links either, but if you google "pinhole paint" it kinda looks like one of those holes.
However there is only one, maybe two in the same area of the fork. I dont really care about a pain blemish, what concerns me if the cause of this tiny dimple like hole has to do with the integrity of the carbon in the fork.

I certainly don't have an issue with getting involved, I just happen to be pretty new to the sport(a week) so I figured I better get safety figured out first! I'll post some stuff in other sub forums and try to get these pictures posted soon.

Pictures of Blemish
Hey guys. I've been riding quite a bit lately and this topic came back to mind. I can finally post pictures, so let me know what you think if this is something to worry about or just a pain blemish.

Then "dimples" appear to be strictly cosmetic voids in the clear coat and the skufing around the dropout is the unavoidable result of installing and removing the wheel. Apparently the manufacturer isn't too concerned with appearance but the voids, in and of themselves, aren't a problem.

Looks like nothing to worry about to me. I see Poseidon sells bikes that are on the inexpensive side which doesn't mean poor quality but I suspect they don't spend a lot of manufacturing cost on a perfect finish but shouldn't affect the frame strength. The chips on the dropouts are pretty normal for non-metal reinforced carbon fiber but you should try to be careful taking your wheels on and off with these as they are a little easier to damage from chipping.
EDIT: Looks like HillRider beat me too it. ^^^^

Thats good. I dont really care about finish in that area of the bike, I just want to make sure the fork won't disintegrate when I hit a pothole one too many times haha. Thank you both for the response
