I highly recommend seeing a hematologist in addition to cardiologist. If your brother is having issues with the blood thinners and energy level, there must be something else going on. Like another poster on this thread, you have to be vigilant as your own advocate when dealing with the medical establishment. If your brother's medication does not work for him (ruling out other factors), he can always get a new medication. I have not heard of or had any of my doctors mention that as a side effect for blood thinners. Note, I believe depression may be caused by either a stroke or a heart attack, so you may want to watch out for that too. Best of luck to your brother! I hope he gets well soon.

I am heterozygous Factor V Leiden, so less aggresive, but even so, I have had 2 dvts and 1 pe. The second dvt appeared when on Eliquis 2x5mg per day. It seams that sometimes, for some persons it't not always working. Now, on wafarin and checking my inr weekly , since is not so stable ...
