To go with the Professional pair and the International, today I bought a Super Tourer from it's orginal owner. Looks to be in good condition, albeit oxidized. Nothing better to see in an old bike is all that dried clean grease all over the Jubilee.

I like buying bikes like this from the original owner as well. Nice find. That's quite a few scores lately.

I really should be buying lotto tickets, but I think bike finds are a surer thing.

Very cool, I have one of these frames that is languishing with too many others.

Is that a sawed off pump peg toward the back of the TT?

I also have a Moto GJ that could be a donor with TA crank and Jubilee deraileurs, might have to flip a coin if I ever get there.

merziac Good eye, I had not noticed it beforehand.

The chrome is also a bit worse that I had first thought, all the more to make it into a mutt and harvest some parts for either Colin or Bob. I believe I will definitely have to make an order from RedClover now.

After removing the turkey levers, I test fit some GK sk43s and found nearly adequate room. If I remove the wheelguides, I should have 4-5mm/side.

At the rate I see ST's converted with period drop bars, I bet most of them never even got onto the showroom floor before being converted to drops. Probably couldn't sell them any other way.

congratulations on finding one so original and without damage

bar wrap and saddle look to be the two main things changed

of the two liveries offered find this one to be the more attractive

full sloping crown is a Harrington, not a Cino nor a Davis

the Maillard 700's are the first of two generations; launch was 1973

although chainset is two plateau bottom bracket spindle is the 3X model 125 due to the presence of the chainguard disc

Slowride79 may have some input to share...

I’ve owned one of these, which came in quite original condition, including upright bars. I found, however, that the geometry was much better suited to weight farther out on the front end, as would be created with drop bars. Not a surprise as they were essentially Competitions with a somewhat different component set.

No worries, I would carefully grind off the rest and call it a day, those pegs were for imo silly little chrome or black ones that didn't work very good ime.

I would find a black Silca (which would only require a trip to my stash) or temporarily pilfer one from another bike then be on the lookout for another.

am so used to see them wearing a Ventoux that me "braine" did not even register the change

one item to keep an eye out for would be a set of Jubile downtube controls to replace the present stem shifters

likely a member has a set snoozing in a parts bin they would be happy to sell or trade to help with the bike

as mentioned earlier, clearances are fairly large so if one converts from 27's to 700's the four mm gain should really permit the use of some gravel grinder size cross section pneumatici...

hope you enjoy lots of good fun with this...

I am a fan of the color combo on these. Knowing that GK 43's fit on them moves them a bit higher in my list of possible purchases someday.

Can somebody school me on those Weinmann Symetric brakes? Are they dual pivot? Or is there a little gear in there to synchronize the arm movement?

I've always liked that pale green, which I think I've only seen on the Super Tourer. I think it should clean up really nicely.

As far as triplizing goes, the great thing about Super Tourers is that they're already set up with a triple-length spindle, with that toothless bash guard in place of th usual big chainring. That makes for a very easy conversion.

Those 125 stronglight spindles are not so easy to find. If going with a triple, I'd be tempted to run a stronglight 99 rather than the 93 that is on the bike to get better gear ratios. I've seen 93s set up as triples but the inside only goes down to 37.

Also isn't this a much smaller bike than the cinelli centurion you just picked up?

bikemig The ST (and Colin Laing) are 59cm ST, which is about my preferred size. The Centurelli is a 62cm, a bit big but it looks like the bb drop makes it close to the same standover. TT is still a couple cm too long, but doable.
I was originally pretty gung-ho on doing a 650b on it, but that bb drop would put it down to a ~265mm height. I'm used to pedal strike, but that might be too low even for me.
