You can rent an RV and now there are private party rentals but they are not cheap. If I owned a nice RV I wouldn't want to rent it out.

When the kids and I were camping a lot during their childhood, we did rent RVs for some of the winter campouts when the weather forecast was bad. Worked out very nicely.

My buddy and I went to a motocross race in the Nevada desert. He drove the van to the highest plateau he could find the night before, and we slept out under the stars. In the middle of the night I heard the strangest howling that sounded like a hundred animals coming our way. We jumped into the van and locked the doors. Whatever it was ran past, but that's where we stayed. I suppose it was coyotes.

Great Flickr album from last year. A few other grizzly shots and one of a black.

Can't wait for the 2021 album.
When I was riding back down from the pass back in 2000 a black bear wondered out of the brush and crossed the road about 50' in front of me.

I have a friend who was up in Banff a couple of years ago. She and her travelling companion were driving long a road slowly when a grizzly came out of woods and just started walked along side their vehicle. They got it on video. Amazing footage. Amazing experience. Even grizzlies are not that aggressive when not with their cubs and not startled or molested.
But things can go wrong. The ex-husband of a old friend/former student of mine from law school was killed and partially consumed by a grizzly in Yellowstone a few years back. Thought is he surprised a mother with two cubs. Experienced outdoorsman who was volunteering in the park. Wrong place at the wring time.
Even more recently, a Forest Service cop was mountain biking not far from Glacier N.P. in an area known for a heavy bear presence. He was bombing a decent, came around a corner, hit a grizzly that was in the middle of the trail, crashed and was mauled to death by the animal. His brother-in-law was not far behind when he came upon the attack, but there was nothing he could do. The investigation indicated that the deceased had, at most, three seconds to react after rounding the curve.

You might also be able to get a good deal on a house in Montana when people who bought there to escape COVID realize they hate the harsh winters. I read some articles last year about people buying properties for well over what had been regular market value, sight unseen in some cases.

When I lived in Alaska, somebody got mauled by bear almost weekly. I was told pretty early on that black bears were worse than grizzlies. Grizzlies will hit you and leave you alone, black bears make sure you are dead.
Most people mauled, were running with head phones in.

We went to a wedding in Montana years ago in the Summer. REAlly hot. Stayed in a beautiful house with lots of windows overlooking a small river. That night, with the lights on in the house, the windows were COMPLETELY covered in bugs so you couldn't see anything. I'll pass.

I put all that stuff on back at his house, then we drove like an hour to the hunting spot, so of course I had to pee when we got there. With all that stuff on, it brought a different meaning to "Fly Fishing".

Yesterday was a beautiful day on the road. It's still green here, but you can see the signs of it drying out, about a month early. Wildflowers still blooming, especially the lupines all along Canada road. I think it was about 80 degrees most of the time. Not too warm, just warm enough.

I had a pretty awesome weekend to celebrate hitting 41.
Mom, stepdad and grandmother all came for a visit (we are all vaccinated) and we spent the day relaxing. Later on, we hit up a my friend’s brewery and had some food truck food. We finished off the night grilling, was a good time. No bike riding was involved. Sad!

When I was in Brooklyn, it was always funny and/or annoying when my (MN) friends and family would express similar concerns about something going on in a vastly different corner of NYC, so I figured I'd pass it along.
