When the group is a bit strung out, it is not necessary/wise to wait for the very last person before you latch back on after a pull. Wednesday night ride attempt/fail #2.

Just because it's nice outside doesn't mean your wife will want you to go riding. Wednesday ride fail.

from yesterday: I can learn to appreciate the wind. Which is a good thing because tomorrow's forecast says "windy" and that's scary considering it did not say that on Tuesday despite 20mph winds....

I feel and ride much better when it's 70 and sunny rather than 45 and raining.

My biggest smile of the week comes from a guy leaning out of his car and singing 'Eye of the Tiger' (I didn't know the people in the car, that made it better..)

It's not the arrow, it's the archer.
Final sprint tonight won by a rider on a Roubaix. Second place -- another Roubaix. Third place -- nearly a mile back.
Touring bike, indeed!

Bike ≠ Car ≠ Ped.
The Cherry Blossom Festival is the worst thing to happen to Hains Point and the whole western end of the Mall-Tidal Basin area. Be prepared to pass more cars and shuttle buses than anything else. Do laps as a paceline at your own risk.
Thanks a lot, Japan. First Pearl Harbor, and now this.

cutting carbs out of the diet not only makes me grouchy, it makes me a hell of a lot less motivated.

Learned that I am really out of shape today, been riding the CAAD9 the last couple of weeks and feeling pretty good. The mountain bike trails officially opened today, so I loaded up the Trek, hit the trails and nearly died.

I finally decided on my brief ride on rollers this evening that I sort of like riding on rollers. Of course, it's no substitute, but I enjoyed it. I used to hate it so much but I find myself actually looking forward to it on those days when weather or schedule stop me from riding outside.

One mile consisting of a 19% and 17% gradient is harder than going up a short 15% hill 10 times, with a descending recovery each time.

I learned that 4 foot monitor lizards can run pretty fast when startled. They don't expect to see roadies when the shadows are vertical.
