True - it's entirely self-imposed. I want them to complement the rest of the chrome - and circular - accents in the room (including the door handle - yes, I'm nuts). Even the original idea for the display brackets was round tubing, not square, but I'm not spending more than the bikes in fittings

This is one I made from parts around the house although I did go buy the 1” gas pipe and wall flange. It’s not quite level as I put it together not long after we moved into this house and my level was still boxed up and missing so I just measured up from wainscotting. The stem isn’t quite a good fit and will swivel a bit so I should probably shim that pipe.

Jokes aside, the welds on this thing are so awful that nothing I can do short of blowing a hole in the tubing will make it worse.
White UV-weak zip-ties because black would be too good for a Huffy.
@AdventureManCO, this spindle conversion took five minutes. It's also not worth five dollars.

jdawginsc I'm going for a similar look for the interior walls in my new Bike Palace/garage. I'm currently replacing the previous owner's rooting and falling over fence. As I tear down the old, I'm cutting the rot off the ground end of the fence pickets. The old pickets will receive a low-pressure wash prior to installation. I'm certain I'll have enough boards left over to make wall hangers. 
Looking South. Another 44 feet to replace.
Looking North. Another 50+ feet to replace to meet the Bike Palace. You can see the processed pickets under the green roofing and ones waiting to be processed leaning against the fence.

jdawginsc I doubt there's any PT chemical remaining in these boards. They've been weathering for over a decade. Besides, because the Bike Palace/Garage is in a flood zone, the county required that it be built with PT 2X4s from the ground to the roof trusses.
cudak888 so far, no gators in the backyard. I have spotted evidence of the occasional armadillo, racoon, and possum. Fortunately, the fence is tall enough to keep the deer on the outside.

For those of you who are hanging your bicycles via frame or rim (especially for a semi-permanent installation): I sincerely suggest that you put some sort of interface between the dissimilar metals/paints. Something as simple as a piece of folded cotton or wool. No synthetic fibers, and no leather. If you don't, there's a risk of pressure bonding or corrosion, even if in a temperature-controlled environment.

You have a good eye! Those are F3’s. Custom painted and detailed Long bonnet F3’s as delivered from GM. These are actual old Varney shells on Athearn HF drive chassis.

Depending on atmosphere, EVA foam can either desiccate or turn into melty goo.
Uncoated cork or cotton would probably be okay. I cannot say what would happen if the cork/cotton were coated in shellac. I realize it's relatively inert as long as there's no solvent, but heat and humidity do funky things to materials.
I would take a look into materials about automobile/motorcycle conservation for more definite answers. It's a tricky business to keep stuff in usable condition without going overboard.

Finally got the darn things. Cost way too much.
Touched up the paint tonight and hung up a cheap pair of polyester drapes without even ironing them, just for now. They do the job and - most importantly - keeps the sun from beating down into the room.
