Notices
Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

TIL'd This Week: Orange Seal's Freezing Point, confirmed

So we hit -5F ambient outside, or so, overnight Thursday-Friday. Moved my bike in the garage (parked near the door), of course it isn't quite that cold inside....and heard something rubbing/abrading the tire. Yup. Orange Seal's freezing points listed:

"What is the temperature range of Orange Seal sealants? Regular: 12 °F, Endurance: 8 °F, Sub Zero: –20 °F"

Are probably right on

And...once it warmed up again yesterday, returned to liquid.

I wonder if it is still good when it thaws.

Does it have to be replaced now?

I've always wondered what their freezing points were but never bothered to look it up. Good to know! (and glad I don't live where it gets that cold)

Well, nothing sloshing around in there...and more importantly they're holding air fine. Tempted to let it be until next refill/tire change. I checked and the 32oz bulk bottle I got off Amazon didn't say anything about temp ranges.

Sidenote...given the lesson learned, and also the -10F forecast for Wednesday-bikes are proper-indoors where it is warmer for the week
