Specialized Rockhopper why dont they offer suspension lock out???

Specialized Rockhopper why dont they offer suspension lock out???
So I am in the market for a MTB to fit the need of novice trails (nothing dangerous) this season.
I am a city rider, I have two flatbar fitness/hybrid bikes for that. Just trying to get into the woods socialize with friends, plus its so much safer then city streets.
I settled on getting a 29er (again dont want to go down hills, cant afford the medical care lol) and want lockouts for the inevitable time I take it on the city streets. Or a friend wants to ride along but needs a bike.
Trek has the Marlin 6 for 630$, sports 100mm Suntour XCT w/hydraulic lockout.
Specialized just doesnt have lockout period, not even on the 1300$ X1 version of the Rockhopper.
It looks like I will be getting the Trek Marlin, just too good a value, cant find any other LBS based product where you get those shocks @600$.
Shame Specialized is losing me, as I plan to buy their Sirrus Carbon Xcomp this year too. And I love the matchey matchey.

I am fairly indifferent in regards to a lockout. If I am going to lug the fork around I may as well have suspension. On a 100mm fork it is not much movement, anyway. The knobby tires are slowing you down way more than the suspension movement.

The new Trek Marlin frame revision is quite nice, the Blue One is killer. Love what they did with the hydroforming, cable routing and bold graphics. Lots of trickle down, even the seat tube area looks like the X Caliber.
I test rode a Rockhopper Pro last week, it did have a lockout. I would be surprised most didnt since even some Hybrid Crosstrail models also have them. In even most of the Suntour forks in this price range have them.

if the road is smooth you won't be using the fork suspension but if you hit an obstacle like a pothole, you'll be glad it was there

Rockhopper has air fork, Marlin spring fork.
Both lockout. But you don't really use lockout on a Cross Country bike, which both of those are.
RockShock is much better fork. You get what you pay for.
Marlin = 32lbs
Rockhopper=28 lbs.

Why are you mt biking on the road? One could pump up the air or adjust the compression for less travel.

All Rockhopper models have a locking forking. But do yourself a favor and avoid the bikes with the SunTour junk fork.
