Just thought I'd say hi to the forum for my first post and that I am now the very proud owner of a 1987 Schwinn Voyageur. Needs a lot of work but I'm super excited. No pics yet but I'll have some up as soon as my image host is back online.

There is an area there where the paint was destroyed. The original owner told me that the bike was hauled one time on a roof bike carrier and a loose strap beat it to death in one spot about the size of a silver dollar. Back in 1995 I thought this was the easiest way to cover it and IMHO added some balance to the chrome areas. And now it works also for paint protection for the clamp-on water bottle mount. A heat-gun is all it takes to remove the tape. It has held up very well.

BTW; Since the original photo, just this week I made the upgrade to NOS vintage Suntour bar-end shifters and an almost NOS Campy Rally RD. So the crummy Gran Turismo is now a paper weight.
I'm now running a 7-speed freewheel (Shimano) and about 124.5mm spacing Mavic 501 hub (700c wheel set) and it works great.

That Paramount is really easy on the eyes. With all the other touring bike photos, the Paramount looks like a racing bike in "touring" clothes. I suppose the Raleigh Internationals are the same in that regard.

I am psyched that a new distributor we picked up carries Honjo's, though the discount
is really not all that great. I guess they do cost a lot to make?

Well, I just did a search on the Sugino 75? It seems to come in one length(109) and is a cup and cone. I was looking for a cartridge style. It's a super high quality set, but not what I was looking for.
There is a Tiagra crankset I can get at work, which has an external BB. It's the Dura Ace trickle down style, so pretty nice. I may go that route. There's a matching long cage RD to go with it.,,,,

87 Schwinn Voyageur, now with pics!
These are the original pics before any restoration has taken place. I've rebuilt pretty much everything since then and will probably tear it down once I've ridden it a bit and get the frame painted/powder coated.

1973-ish Motobecane Grand Touring. I believe all the parts are original to the bike(except the saddle, and consumables). I purchased it from the Originals Owner's Son.
Had a tough time with the camera and the snow. The blue showed up black in the photos, unless I used a flash.

My cannondale St400. It was my "cabin bike" but now pretty much rides on the trainer (don't feel as guilty sweating on my aluminum frames)
