Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Have the opportunity to get a new bike need some opions

Hi everybody .

I have a old schwinn world sport that i ride now and put alot of miles on it , But i am thinking of starting to train for Tri's or maybe some TT's . My question is I have the chance to buy an 1987 Kestral 4000 from a Friend , the bike is in great shape and has always been well taken care of . what I am asking is if anybody knows about this bike and would I be ahead of the game to get it and do my training on it or just stay with my old Schwinn .. dont think I would get rid of it anyway but just wondering everybody's thoughts

thanks in advance for all your help

You're just training. Therefore, stick with your Schwinn for now. Meanwhile, start looking for a serious Tri bike, elsewhere.

Just about a month before Trials, spring for the new Tri bike!

* Which do you value most, the bike or your friendship?

It's best not to have any business dealings with relatives or friends, or friends of relatives...

Money has no allegiance!

OTOH, if you care more about obtaining a decent Tri bike at a really inexpensive price by exploiting the convenience of a perceived close relationship, then just go for it!

However, just remember:

The sword may be double edged...
