Phone mount for vintage bikes?
I am interested in getting a phone mount for my vintage bikes and Quad Lock seems like a smart system. But there handlebar mounts are specified for modern sizes.
Has anyone here tried to mount a Quad Lock Out Front Mount on 26 or 26.4 mm handlebars? Is any modification needed?
Quad Lock Out Front Mount PRO
https://www.quadlockcase.com/products/out-front-mount
* Suits handlebar sizes 31.8mm, 25.4mm and 22mm
Are there any other quality phone mounts (preferably with some kind of speed lock) that fits vintage handlebar sizes?

Well, I bought a Nite Ize brand phone mount as an impulse purchase. Its secure enough, although it can rotate. It also secured the phone across the screen, which makes the phone difficult to use. On the plus side, it’s super easy to move from bike to bike, and super easy to remove... which is good... because it’s ugly!

Delta phone holders come with mounts for handlebars or stem caps. Costs around $20-$25. I have one for my iPhone 4s, although my phone is usually in my pocket on rides.
Good mounts with an adjustable plastic easel type design that protects the back and sides. They make models for plain phones and a larger size to accommodate phones with protective shells. Adds bulk and some folks don't like the way it looks, but to me all devices look awkward on bikes, whether it's an old mechanical odometer, bike computer or phone. I needed room for a video camera, which is more important to me since I encounter hostile drivers every two or three rides, and the one time I was hit, last year, was the one day I didn't run video. So the bike computers and phones are lower priority for me -- I record ride data and check Wahoo and Strava later.
On the plus side, with apps you're not locked into any one interface. For example, I prefer Wahoo Fitness for a riding display, then transfer data to Strava later. There are also simple low resource bike computer apps with speed, distance, etc., but no link to Strava. Those will get a lot more runtime per battery charge than running Strava with display on.
Occasionally I use the phone on the handlebar for indoor trainer sessions with a Wahoo Tickr heart rate monitor. I've also removed my cheap bike computer and only use it with indoor trainer sessions. I moved the sensor to the rear wheel, which won't reach the receiver/display unit on the handlebar. I just set the receiver/display on a table next to the bike and use it to gauge my efforts on interval sessions.
I've considered getting a larger Delta for my newer Android phone, mostly for quick access to navigation apps and voice prompts.

I purchased nearly a dozen of a particular type directly from CHINA during 2018 for approximately $4 each with free shipping to my address. I ordered them in batches, first ordering just three to see if they were decent or not. Then later in 2018, I ordered more of the same ones.
HERE IS THAT EXACT PHONE HOLDER but from different sellers than I sourced them from.
These are located in Dallas TX and another USA location rather than CHINA.
333194786957 model A and 153068311023 on da bay.
Both sellers have these for around $8 to $9
YOU MAY FIND OTHER Ebay sellers or Amazon that may have these priced significantly less, I don't know as I simply grabbed the first two examples just to let you see the product and description.
THE PRODUCT THAT I BOUGHT DIRECT FROM CHINA
says UNIVERSAL BIKE HOLDER for smartphone, MODEL CH-01
.....the version that I purchased is all black ( you can chose one with a decorative color at the four corners, or you can get it without any decorative color, thus all black)
I can report that these WORK GREAT on vintage bicycles. I have these installed on an old Nishiki Mountain Bike, and on nine vintage Schwinn bikes, mostly 1971, 1972, 1976, 1973 models etc. They do not fit on my neighbor's GMC DENALI 21 speed (Walmart/Target) Road Bike of recent years..........because they DO NOT FIT 31.8mm HANDLEBARS......... They Will Not Fit LARGE FRAME TUBES but they WILL MOUNT TO THE approx 1" (25.4mm) Schwinn Electro-Forged tube on step-thru Women's bike near the headtube and handlebars if you don't want them on the handlebars........I mounted them on the top tube on a '76 Women's SPORT COLLEGIATE with the racing bars like a Varsity because it works better there since you typically ride the top and use the safety levers on a Varsity-type Schwinn.....................when using NORTHROADS(tourist style COLLEGIATE) then mounting on the handlebars is great.
I bought these from China directly after studying plenty of different Phone holders.
The reason that I chose these is because of THE FOUR CORNERS THAT MAKE IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR THE PHONE TO FLY OFF...
These things are simple but they work well, in my opinion if they are still made exactly like the ones that I have.
They will fit any SAMSUNG GALAXY phone.
I still recommend them at $7 or so even though I bought mine from China directly at less than $5 shipped free.
There are other brands and types of holders that are nicely made of aluminum and titanium but none of them have the four corner mounting that is foolproof.
Cheap and simple, plastic but these work, even though they are dirt cheap to buy.

Personally, I prefer the middle pocket.
My wife's Pixel 3a fits in a silicone gizmo similar to what @mkeller234 posted.

Thanks for all suggestions. Although Quad Lock Out Front Mount PRO still looks like the best choice for me. I really like the protruding position, as it gives a good viewing angle on a road bike. This is good for following a map as I like to explore new routes. And the position also clears all cables on a vintage setup. The extra benefits of the Quad Lock system are also great, quick release for taking off the bike, and also the extra mounts that you can put on backpack straps or in your car.

I have what looks like an identical one I got of off Amazon. (Can't take picture of phone in since phone out taking picture). It is on 3ttt bars and holds my 5" screen Samsung no problem - looks like it can accommodate something a little larger. It worked well even when I had to go over about 1/2 mile of gravel (Which is an un-related testament to how my 700x 25 Continental Grand Prix Classic "Skinwalls" have been performing).

I used to use a quadlock universal mount. It fits on traditional road bars just fine, as well as 31.8 too. The rubber bands are small enough that a narrower diameter bar isnt an issue.
It now sits on whatever bike I have on the trainer in the winter so I can watch stuff on my phone on the bike.
My phone goes in my right jersey pocket as the Bluetooth connection to earbuds is strongest with it in that pocket, so it goes there even when listening to music.
I'll bring it out for a minute if I need to check directions, then back it goes.

Middle jersey pocket. Less noticeable since it doesn't pull the jersey as much.

You can use any mount sized for 31.8 mm bars. Just cut a strip of inner tube (say 15" long). Wrap the bar. Try the mount on. Too big? Cut t little off and try again. Repeat until the fit is perfect.

Could be the merino wool, but I probably don't ride fast enough, as my phone never gets wet from sweat.

I think any phone mount on a C&V bike must include an inner tube:
