ICAN Carbon Wheelset - Not the stereotypical Chinese wheelset

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

ICAN Carbon Wheelset - Not the stereotypical Chinese wheelset

As a broke college student who loves to ride I was looking for an inexpensive carbon wheelset. I looked for a long time at used wheels but never felt comfortable riding something that someone else no longer wants. After a lot of research I decided to take a chance on an ICAN 50mm carbon wheelset. I'm a heavier rider so I purchased the set with Sapim CX Ray spokes. Honestly... I've been incredibly surprised at how nice these wheels are. They are sturdy, light, and fast. They break about as well as you can hope for on a carbon wheel. Plus they hooked me up with a 2 year warranty... which I highly doubt I'll need.

Conclusion: definitely worth the money. $425 on Amazon.

As a broke college student I would question your experience with anything.

And since your second post ever sounds like a very unimaginative schill ad, I'd hazard the conclusion that ican should be avoided at all costs.

No, not really.

I think it's a person happy with their investment.

Two posts and they're both trumpeting the call of a cheap Chinese wheelset? That's not typical posting behavior. Usually people invest a little bit in an online community before filling the boards with ads.

Suffice to say that it is EXACTLY a stereotypical Chinese wheelset and the OP is making EXACTLY the same "oh, check out this awesome new wheelset that's totally unlike every other Chinese wheelset" new postings pitch that has been done ad nauseum on various forums over the last few years.

And when that's your first AND second post on a forum, it has zero credibility. So, in the zero percent chance that you're right, maybe the OP can actually engage in the community with some actual cycling posts before the touting begins?

Indeed. Perhaps we need some ICANT demos to back up OPs claims.

Agreed. ICAN is not fake... Been around for a while, countless happy customers, name pops up as a reputable manufacturer for frames, wheels and parts in numerous forums etc.

no one is saying that ICAN is fake. He's saying this is a post from a shill.

Shill - Wikipedia
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shill
A shill, also called a plant or a stooge, is a person who publicly helps or gives credibility to a person or organization without disclosing that they have a close relationship with the person or organization.

Ditto. When I saw this thread pop up yesterday, the first thing I did was check the OP's other posts. Smells of shill.

OK. Points made. Back to the topic of the wheels themselves, if interested in discussing.

For future reference, if any post on BF appears to violate guidelines, using the "Report" button is the best way for the Mod Team to investigate .

Thanks.

I didn't know Sapim CX-Ray spokes were for heavier riders.

Ican has been around a while. No experience with them but icanbicycles on ebay has over 1000 transactions and 100% positive feedback so apparently some folks are happy with them.

I'm thinking of trying some Chinese carbon wheels and am looking at them and Carbonzone.
